the bird answers :
I have my pleasure while i rested within bounds.........
When I soared into the limitless, i found my songs.........
This shot came from the same pier as the previous shot but a few hours earlier. The moment had me thinking of characters in movies who say to "Just sit and the answer will come to you." The question was of course what to photograph when the light was not right for what I wanted. So I sat and at my foot was this outgrowth of something, likely a weed. My mother-in-law used to say, "if it does not belong there it is likely a weed."
The blonde color of the item contrasted with the dark wood. And, it shone brightly as the low rays of the sun painted it on the dark canvas of wood. All I had to do was compose the image and my subject would stand out. So I reversed the leading lines and created a triangle that might lead the viewers eyes back to my little subject. The one that was sitting right beside me when I sat down to find an opportunity. I guess those really are all around us, we just need to take a moment to see them.
I hope that this photograph answers the question that was posed on the internet: "I'm looking for a compact camera and I am looking at the Lumix DMC-TZ80. Now reading reviews online are giving me mixed feelings. I see a lot of comments about how it takes bad pictures... So the question is, is it the camera or just the way people are using it?"
This is an uncropped zoom shot from the Lumix DMC-TZ80. I doubt I could have achieved a better result even with my 45.7 MP Nikon D850. And this compact camera has 18 MP. So you see, it's not about the sensor size or the specs of a particular camera. It is all about the light and composition.
Answers on a post card if you know where ? I do remember the day so well and another reason to hang on to photo's... When we were getting my gear from out of the car I sipped over but as is always the case I think more of my camera and its safety than my own. It didn't help that the more I tried to get to my feet the more impossible it became. My husband and I were in stitches because I was on sheet ice lightly covered with snow and just kept slithering around in the same spot. I eventually got on to my knees and crawled to where I could get to my feet. My mind just remembers the name Goyt Valley so I'm hoping my brain hasn't got completely to pot yet :) Sue ...

I should be saving these as I'm likely going to be using archived shots for a while, but I can't help myself.

The reason for our recent trip to Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee…the Western Cottonmouth. Reelfoot is pretty famous in our part of the world for three main reasons: Amazing fishing (winter and spring only…it sucks in August), and the largest concentration of Bald eagles and cottonmouths in the Eastern USA.
I have been wanting to go back to Reelfoot to photograph the cottonmouths for many years now. This week my brother Gus and I made the 9-hour roundtrip drive and were blessed with two separate encounters. In this shot, we fired up the trolling motor and cruised alongside this beautiful adult viper.
I guess one's answered prayer can be another’s nightmare.
please no graphics in your comments. if it's from a group i've posted in choose the little one - comment with only graphics will be deleted. thanks

Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do
I'm half crazy all for the love of you
It won't be a stylish marriage
I can't afford a carriage
But you'll look sweet upon the seat
Of a bicycle built for two
There is a flower within my heart
Daisy, Daisy
Planted one day by a glancing dart
Planted by Daisy Bell
Whether she loves me or loves me not
Sometimes it's hard to tell
Yet I am longing to share the lot
Of beautiful Daisy Bell
Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do
I'm half crazy all for the love of you
It won't be a stylish marriage
I can't afford a carriage
But you'll look sweet upon the seat
Of a bicycle built for two

I feel a hunger, it's a hunger
That tries to keep a man awake at night
Are you the answer I shouldn't wonder
When I feel you whet my appetite
With all the power you're releasing
It isn't safe to walk the city streets alone
Anticipation's running through me
Let's find the key and turn this engine on
I can feel you breathe
I can feel your heart beat faster
Take me home tonight
I don't want to let you go till you see the light
Take me home tonight
Listen honey
Just like Ronnie sang
Be my little baby
Oh, oh, oh
I get frightened in all this darkness
I get nightmares I hate to sleep alone
I need some company a guardian angel
To keep me warm when the cold winds blow

A yong boy once asked his teacher:
What is the difference between"I like you" and "I love you"?
The teacher answered:
Well, It's like a flower..
If you like a flower, you pluck it,
But if you love a flower, you water it and nurture it daily and watch it grow.
When we pluck a flower, not only will the flower die, but we can't experience it for any longer than that moment.
When you water it and take care of it daily, you can experience it for a long time.
The important lesson here is:
If you want meaning
If you want purpose
If you want fulfilment
Those things take time

Fun Facts: Grand Teton National Park was created on February 29, 1929 and greatly expanded in 1950 due to the efforts of John D. Rockefeller, who purchased vast tracts of land and then donated over 30,000 acres to the U.S. Government.

A bit of Sunday trivia
Daisy Bell" was composed by British composer Harry Dacre in 1892. When Dacre first came to the United States, he brought with him a bicycle, for which he was charged import duty. His friend William Jerome, another songwriter, remarked lightly: "It's lucky you didn't bring a bicycle built for two, otherwise you'd have to pay double duty." Dacre was so taken with the phrase "bicycle built for two" that he soon used it in a song. That song, Daisy Bell, first became successful in a London music hall.
In 1961, an IBM 7094 at Bell Labs was programmed to sing "Daisy Bell" in the earliest demonstration of computer speech synthesis. This recording has been included in the United States National Recording Registry.
Science-fiction author Arthur C. Clarke witnessed the IBM 7094 demonstration during a trip to Bell Labs in 1962 and referred to it in the 1968 novel and film 2001: A Space Odyssey, in which the HAL 9000 computer sings "Daisy Bell" during its gradual deactivation.
So now you know:-))

Barely 20 seconds before this train came into view, the sun came out and less than 10 seconds after the locos passed me, the sun disappeared behind the clouds, never to be seen again on this day. Of note, this train ran at a larger than normal length of around 1500m.
