Finally hambox. It took some time, but here's a new challenge for you!
I know you like roaming through second hand shops, Craig's list etc to find items you can't find everywhere. So do I, even if I try to stay away from those places now. I have enough stuff. Almost anyway. But here's what I want you to
ANSWER ME: What's your best flee market (or similar) buy?
For me, it has to be this table. I was buying another table, really crappy, and the salesman threw this in on the deal. I hadn't even dared to ask the price on this - but luckily he thought it was really ugly and that he was smart by getting rid of it instead of having to drive it to the dumpster. Oh you stupid, stupid man! I adore you! Me - I love this piece of furniture! I love the oak and the little shelves on each sides, perfect to put your book after reading. I love the Bauhaus, functionalistic design, the curved "legs". I would think it's from the 1930's - maybe 40's - and it's mine - and I got it for nothing (even if I had to pay $39 for the other junk table :-))
Anyone else having made a bargain? Please feel free to tell us :)
The fabulous hambox asked me: ANSWER ME with your favorite morning drink!
Even if I'd have big problems without my coffee, I still have to answer that water is my favorite morning drink. It's the first thing I do when I get out of bed - I have a big glass of water.
My good friend, the wonderful Hambox and I are having a photo game going where we ask each other questions and DEMANDS an answer through a picture. If anyone else is viewing this, feel welcome to tag along and answer this:
This time she asked: Okay, Ã…sta, ANSWER ME: as you are reading this, point your arm directly to your right. What's there? Take a picture of it!
Well, my dear hambox. When I point my arm directly to my right, I see three lamps. And this is not arranged, even if I kind of wish it was. There's something wrong with each of these, and I've put them in my home office/spare room one at the time. I put them on the middle of the floor a couple of weeks ago as a message to myself to deal with them! (But then I haven't been home) Two of them can be fixed. One of them should be thrown away.
For more info, look at the notes
You'll get a new question as soon as the battery to my camera is charged - it went flat when I uploaded this pic.
I love broccoli! It's the one vegetable I eat the most. Sometimes I just boil it and use it as a snack during the day. Did I mention how I love broccoli?
Now, hambox! What's the one vegetable you can't live without? ANSWER ME!
It's an obvious homage to one of my all time favorite album covers: Anton LaVey's Answer Me / Honolulu Baby single.
Okay, Ã…sta, ANSWER ME: as you are reading this, point your arm directly to your right. What's there? Take a picture of it!
This is my small blackboard that lives between my coat closet and my front door. It is directly to the right of where I am sitting -- at my desk. Dangling below it is a bit of chalk and a little eraser my friend Andrew rigged up. This is where I scrawl the items I need to buy and to do. On the list: N. Crom -- that's Nasalcrom (nose spray); Saline (solution for my contacts); Zip Loc (resealable plastic bags); and TP (ahem, toilet paper.)
I am pleased to report, thanks to the list, I am in possession of these items.
Your turn, Ã…sta!
ANSWER ME with the thing(s) that are to your right -- RIGHT THIS SECOND!

Sweet peas are my favorite flower, not just because of their delectable scent, tousled petals and twirly vines. Every time I smell them, I remember. My mom loved to grow them. Her mom loved to grow them, as did her mother, and grandmother, too. The smell of sweet peas is so powerful, I can conjure any number of images of mom or Grandma, bent over their vines, gardening away.
The pelican is there for a reason -- it's filled with glass from our beach house, where the sweet peas bloomed for so many years.
This is not an old photo (just made to look that way) -- I went to the farmer's market on Saturday, and found florists who were selling big bunches for $2 -- and they threw in a second bunch for free. YUM!
