Mottled Ducks have a very limited range in the US, seen mostly along the Gulf coast and Florida. This one had folks lining up for days on the C&O Canal in MD.

Different tree, same area - between Cardiff and Newport.
Below is a link to a shot of the same tree before it had leaves or the crop had started growing:
Native Masked Bee (Hylaeus (Euprosopoides) perplexus)
My second sighting of this species of Masked Bee. I am hoping they will settle and set up a colony here.
Yet another in what feels like a steady stream of cherry-red SD70ACUs, (not that I'm complaining!) CP 7037 in this case, leads an SD60 westward on the "Cut-Off" through downtown Milwaukee with a junk freight bypassing Muskego Yard. In what should be a few years, this line will be bereft of almost all freight traffic, as CP constructs a new double-track main through Muskego Yard itself, reducing conflicts with Amtrak traffic on the "Cut-Off".
This is another shot with the 200-500 combined with the Raynox close up lens. This little sweat bee is what drew me to the dandelion in the first place. And, by the way, still uncropped without vignetting!
A rear feather view of a Welcome Swallow from last week - hope you like it!
Thanks for any comments, views or favorites - much appreciated!!
Have a wonderful day....
No, it is not Mars, but Elgol, Skye. You don't often get beautiful sunsets here, but it always seems to deliver a mystical appeal, with constant changing light and colour.
Sunday mornings are special for us. Each week we choose a place to have breakfast together. This morning it was a short walk from here.
This is HarborTown Memphis on an island recovered from the Mississippi river by the Corp of Engineers. It offers upscale Yuppie housing favored by the downtown medical community with scenes like this. We live out east but they let us visit ... I guess.
Another one from this series - for as long as I don't edit the new set of pictures. Lately I'm lacking the energy to process the new things. Still at work and under pressure. But I like these pictures anyway...
Another from a couple days ago. No textures this time. Hope they withstand the snow blanket on them tonight. I love crocuses..wish they were around all summer.
I was planning on going to Clague Park this morning to try and capture my nemesis the Belted Kingfisher, but instead went to the Rocky River Reservation Metro Park. Naturally, I found out later from another photographer that the Kingfisher was at Clague and giving some really good looks. Meanwhile, I had to settle for this Red-bellied Woodpecker who at least posed in a spot with a nice background and turned to face the early morning sunlight.
... just another view of the sunset.... I personally never tire of sunsets! Forillon National Park, Gaspe

È geniale questa cosa che i giorni finiscono. È un sistema geniale. I giorni e poi le notti. E di nuovo i giorni. Sembra scontato, ma c’è del genio. E là dove la natura decide di collocare i propri limiti, esplode lo spettacolo. I tramonti.
