Late in the day on the Grinnell glacier trail. Rain clouds were moving in fast, a hole opened up in the sky for the sun rays to shine on the Angel Wing.

Carles Sabater: memòria d'una llum
El 33 recorda el músic en un documental dirigit per Pep Blay. Ara fa deu anys, el 13 de febrer de 1999, Carles Sabater va cantar per últim cop el seu "Boig per tu", l'himne més popular de Sau i de tota la història del rock català.
Va ser al Casal de Vilafranca, tot just acabat el primer concert de la gira "XII", on va morir víctima d'una aturada cardiorespiratòria. Tenia 36 anys, 12 discos a l'esquena i una brillant carrera d'actor de musicals per endavant, avalat per Josep Maria Flotats, Calixto Bieito i Dagoll Dagom.
"Sex symbol" del moment i primer gran fenomen de fans a Catalunya, la història de Carles Sabater és paral·lela a la del "boom" del rock català: el seu èxit va contribuir definitivament a portar-lo al cim, igual que la seva desaparició va comportar l'inici del final d'una generació.
Però el més fascinant va ser la seva personalitat, magnètica i seductora, que va marcar per sempre tothom que el va conèixer. Diuen que Carles Sabater irradiava una poderosa llum. Molta llum. Com era aquesta llum?
En el documental produït per TVC, "Carles Sabater. Memòria d'una llum", setze testimonis, amb noms com Pep Sala, Joan Ollé, Coco Comín, Àngels Gonyalons, Joan Lluís Bozzo, Gerard Quintana, els amics més íntims i la seva companya, Laura Jou, comenten la trajectòria d'un personatge que, tot i els deu anys d'absència, encara els té atrapats en la memòria.
"Carles Sabater: Memòria d'una llum" aporta alguns documents inèdits i una visió diferent d'aquest personatge tan atractiu, que faran d'aquest documental una eina imprescindible per reescriure el paper del popular cantant en la història de la música i dels musicals a Catalunya.
El documental "Carles Sabater. Memòria d'una llum" està dirigit per Pep Blay, guionista de TVC i periodista expert en el rock català, autor de les biografies de Sopa de Cabra i Els Pets. La realització és de Jordi Fàbregas.

Old Vegas on East Fremont. Image made in 2013. The Blue Angel Motel was opened in 1956 and the angel stood on a pedestal over it until it was torn down a few years ago. The angel and the other signs at the motel were designed by Betty Willis, designer of the "Fabulous Las Vegas" sign on South Las Vegas Blvd that is as well known as Vegas itself. The paint job on the angel in this image is not original, but an attempt to make it look better in the last years the motel was open. East Fremont got pretty seedy and many of the old places are now gone. I believe this angel has been preserved by the Neon Museum.

Angelic swan.
It is spring time in the UK and this swan was ensuring that he was doing (or at least trying) to do his best to ensure that he left in his wake a number of off-spring.
He was swimming on the River Wensum in search of a mate and it was not for to lack of trying but he just did not seem to cut it.
As is the habit with the locals there were people who continually fed the swans with bread and it was at one of these impromptu feeding times that the swan came straight at me in the hope of getting some bread.
Alas though it was yet another disappointment and he swam away.
He did however create a great sight with this wings spread.

On the evening of the 6th of August 1888, Martha Tabram went out drinking with her friend Mary Ann Connelly, AKA Pearly Poll. Late that night they met two soldiers & they all went drinking. At some point, they decided to split up with these men, Tabram went through the arched entrance to George Yard (now Gunthorpe Street), while Pearly Poll went into Angel Alley with the man she was with. She never saw Tabram alive again, & she was found on a stairway landing in a building in George Yard at around 4:45 AM on the morning of the 7th.

Angel's Ladies was a 5,000-square-foot legal brothel situated on a 70-acre ranch which was located three miles north of Beatty, Nevada.[1] It was known as Fran's Star Ranch until it was renamed Angel's Ladies in 1997 after being purchased by Mack and Angel Moore.[2] It has been closed since August 2014.[3]

Esta fotografía corresponde a una restauración realizado en estos días, de una imagen destruida por un el terremoto del 27 de Octubre de 1.894. Llegó a nuestras manos y tratamos de darle una nueva vista. Quizas pudo ser interpretado a como se veia en su estado original. En fin tratamos de hacer lo que estaba a nujestro alcance,(mi hermana y yo), a tantos años de estar sin un cuidado y casi olvidado este angelito de una iglesia que se derrumbó totalmente.
