An image of an advertisement in the Sun Newspaper for Android phones sold by Carphone Warehouse here in the UK.
Underneath is a section which lists 10 apps that "you need to get through the day". 8 are free, 1 is £1, and the last one did not even seem to be listed when I searched. "Where's The Train", the only non-free app, is listed as having "100 - 500 downloads"
This is very typical of my experience with the Android Market. Unless your business model can support free applications, with your revenue coming from advertising, a website or service you sell, then you are unlikely to be able to recoup the time spent developing quality applications.
A great update for Android with a complete parts volume and display mixer.

Sunday we walked 6.8km but who's counting. My Android App in my smartphone that's who. I wanted a GPS (GPX, actually) track that could be published online so anyone could find this route and walk it. This circle-route could be started from anywhere along the route but for those arriving by vehicle or public transit bus, Iona St. is as good a starting point as any.
The Iona loop is 5km in length but we walked a bit farther as we took in the market then walked home.
The entire 5km loop is outlined in the following:
If one arrives by vehicle, there is roadside parking beside Horner Park on the northern end of Iona Drive. Proceed southward on Iona Dr. -- cross Cedar Hill Cross Rd. using the controlled crosswalk -- then continue up Glastonbury Rd. to peak on Mt. Tolmie. One does not walk up Mayfair Dr. but once reaching the top of Glastonbury one makes an immediate right turn onto the Mt. Tolmie park trail system. The entire mountain can be explored using this park trail system. Once atop the mountain the eastbound trail can be picked up at the stone staircase beside the reservoir. The reservoir is identified by its large concrete surface. Follow the trail eastward until some rooftops of houses become visible; here one must pick up the unmarked trail to one's righthand side. It's unfortunate this trailhead is not marked properly as it leads to the secret footpath out onto Rattenbury Plc. From here one follows residential neighbourhood roads eastward on Frederick Norris Rd. to cross Henderson Rd. into Emmanuel Baptist Church's parking lot (on the S.E. corner). Transit the church's property heading south to pick up the Henderson Park Chiptrail. Make a right turn once on the chiptrail and continue walking southward until arriving at the Oak Bay Recreational Centre. After using the restroom facilities head north across Cedar Hill Cross Road and follow Haro Road (which is not a road but a trail) to the parking lot at the University of Victoria (UVic) and hang a left heading westward. Pickup the alumni Trail and bear left at each fork-in-the-tail until arriving where there's a triangular section where the trails meet -- turn right here. Once across Henderson Road, enter Finnerty Gardens through the first gate. Continue west until exiting the gardens. Cut through the parking lot to get on the sidewalk beside UVic's connector road to Gordon Head Road. Cross this road and turn southbound to Varsity Rd. Turn right (west) on Varsity and follow it all the way down to Horner Park where one's vehicle was parked. If one continues through Horner Park to Palo Alto St., there will be found the main parking lot for this park. It's usually empty most days except Wednesday's when it's overflow parking from the church's bazaar and sale.
GPS Coordinates for the unmarked trail eastbound toward Rattenbury Plc.
48°27'25.16"N 123°19'20.00"W
This app talks via bluetooth to the arduino train controller and can directly control 4 trains and 16 swtiches.

Mark Sherry created an Android app for Embargo!
This is version 0.8. Consider it an open playable beta. Two players can play by passing the phone back and forth. Hit the 'back' button to undo your last move. It undoes one move only. Features like online multiplayer or vs AI will have to wait for a later version.

Mark is a great guy. You bring up a rough game idea to him, he comes back 20 minutes later with a freakin' probabilities spreadsheet. This is stuff he does for fun! Fun, people! Mark. Awesome.
