The Sunnyside Train Yard, Queens, NYC is comprised of 180 acres (72.8 hectares), which is 6x the footprint of Hudson Yards, 2x the size of Battery Park City, and 30 acres larger than Roosevelt Island. As with the other yards (Atlantic & Hudson), Sunnyside is also slated to have a platform constructed above it, so as to further erect buildings and roads atop that. For several years now major realtors have been building properties around the perimeter of the Sunnyside Yard. They're all like vultures, waiting on the kill.

Twice per weekday I walk past this small outcrop of earth situated along Skillman Avenue and the Sunnyside Train Yard and it's just a little something that gives me so much pleasure, as each of the seasons are contained within this one small triangular island that's sandwiched between the intersection of Skillman & 43rd Avenues in Long Island City, Queens, NYC

Construction is about to go vertical at 24-19 Jackson Avenue, a 55-story residential skyscraper in the Court Square section of Long Island City, Queens. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Charney Companies and Tavros Capital in partnership with Incoco Capital, the 676-foot-tall structure will yield 600 apartments and 10,000 square feet of retail space. The 18,000-square-foot property is bounded by 45th Avenue to the north, Jackson Avenue to the southeast, and 23rd Street to the west.

Hektad is a Bronx-raised graffiti artist who began tagging the cityscape in 1981 when he was 12. He attended Manhattan’s High School of Art and Design when it was a hotbed of the underground art scene. Honeywell Street/Avenue consists entirely of a bridge (Honeywell Street bridge) which spans across the Sunnyside Train Yard. The bridge begins at Northern Blvd and ends at Stillwell Avenue. 1 Honeywell is the only property with an address on this street. The bridge was originally built in 1910 when the rail yard was built, but was closed due to structural deterioration during most of the 1980s and 1990s. The old bridge was demolished and rebuilt in 2002.
