The Anderson Lake played a key role on the route of the Douglas Road during the Fraser Canyon Gold Rush of 1858-59.The Douglas Road was a goldrush-era transportation route from the British Columbia Coast to the gold fields. Over 30,000 men are reckoned to have travelled this route untill the construction of the Cariboo Wagon Road (1860), which bypassed the region.
Nowadays the Anderson Lake offers a multitude of recreational activities including swimming, boating, waterskiing, wakeboarding, sailing, windsurfing and fishing.

The classic 1952-built ARTHUR M. ANDERSON makes an early morning stop for fuel at the Waterfront Petroleum dock in Detroit.
P45 rolls into Anderson with a trio of retro GP60s on the headend. The train out of Toccoa, GA usually keeps 4 axles due to bridge limitations on the Z line which makes the power usually pretty sought after. Although not a high hood, these units are still pretty cool.

Rio Grande SD7 No. 5301 retrieves an empty bulkhead flat car on the Anderson Lumber spur in Provo, Utah the afternoon of June 26, 1976. While this spur trackage has been gone for more than two decades, the Norton Fruit Company and Provo Hide & Fur Co. buildings still stand along 6th South street.

Anderson Dock with the Hardy Gallery. The building is covered with bright, colorful signatures and handprints by families, couples, and everyone in between. The Anderson Hollow Lighthouse in Harvey, New Brunswick, Canada. Originally built in 1889 and located in Waterside, N.B., it was destroyed in 1902 and rebuilt in 1903. It was later moved to its current location.

The storied SS Arthur M. Anderson departs Calumet Harbor for Green Bay, Wisconsin with coal from KCBX terminal near 106th Street. Launched in 1951 in Lorain, Ohio, the Anderson is famous for being the last freighter to establish contact with the Edmund Fitzgerald on that fateful night in November of 1975. She has a long career with US Steel's former Great Lakes Fleet, now a subsidiary of CN.
In a matter of hours, the Anderson was sailing to Two Harbors for a load of taconite pellets to start the 2024-2025 shipping season. I am glad I was able to snag a photo of this classic laker before it left Fraser Shipyard.
