Anyone familiar with which vessel this is anchored between Newport and Jamestown? I didn;t have my long long lens with me and can't make out the name. Some sort of Offshore support vessel just not sure if its for the energy industry or for diving/exploration support.

Cargo ships anchored off the coast from Vancouver, BC waiting to either depart or enter the port. Taken around English Bay beach during a photo walk around Vancouver. Featured in Explore on March 10th, 2025.

the large thick roots of a Moreton Bay Fig tree (Ficus macrophylla) native to Eastern Australia, they have an extensive surface root system. In nature it's a strangler fig, seeds dropped by birds germinate in the canopy of a host tree, it then grows as an epiphyte while sending down roots to ground level, eventually enlarging and enveloping the host tree and becoming a free standing tree by itself.

I love looking for ice formations along the lake... these three trees look like they are anchored by the ice at their bases.

After a visit to Caernarfon Castle late in the day and wondering round noticing this large anchor and didn't even know it was there, originally to see about getting a sunset of the castle and at this time high tide wouldn't have matched up with sunset so instead opted for this anchor and at this time not many people wondering round.

Exposing for the highlights in the sky and anchor tip a single image with enough detail for me to bring out the dark shadow areas.

Anchor for the fishing trawler COUGAR

An unusual garden ornament, but a great one.

Maybe view large, and thank you for your favourites. :)

Sea here, the mainland safely anchored to this island, shall endure this storm.

"The Calf" (Het Kalf) used to be a mill in the 17th century, but is a national monument now, converted into apartments.

Harlingen, the Netherlands.

Seen on a house wall, modern, but rather attractive.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.

Monotone version of a long exposure taken at Nubble Lighthouse. Really liked this small white new boat chained to the rocks.

A ship anchored in the Mississippi River at the Bonnet Carre' Spillway. A very early morning HDR shot. A very heavy layer of fog covered the river as the early morning sun lighted the rear of the ship. I suppose that is the part of the ship they call 'aft'. :-)

I'm no sure why this old and huge anchor sits on the coastline in Troon but it always catches my eye when walking by!!

Stay Safe and Healthy Everyone!

In direct translation, Ilulissat is the Kalaallisut word for "Icebergs”. The nearby Ilulissat Icefjord is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and has made Ilulissat the most popular tourist destination in Greenland.

At 69°13 North, Ilulissat is inside the arctic circle by nearly a hundred miles. The position of the Arctic Circle is not fixed and currently runs 66°33′49.1
