Amidst a green forest on a summer's day,
I wander through nature in a tranquil array.
The sun's golden fingers dance through the trees,
A gentle breeze whispers secrets to the leaves.
Each step I take on the path of soft earth,
Leads me deeper into nature's rebirth.
Birdsong serenades from hidden abodes,
As I walk in the green, where life freely flows.
The emerald canopy, a shelter above,
Filters the sunlight, a tapestry of love.
In dappled shade, I find respite and peace,
Where worries and cares find sweet, swift release.
Wildflowers bloom with colors so bright,
A symphony of hues, a true delight.
Butterflies waltz on the warm, scented air,
Creating a scene so enchantingly rare.
The babbling brook, a gentle refrain,
Adds music to moments that stillness sustains.
I dip my hand in the cool, crystal stream,
A reminder that life is but a dream.
With each step, the forest becomes my guide,
In its verdant embrace, my spirits reside.
As the day unfolds, nature's magic unfurls,
Walking in the green, I am one with the world.

Invariably my old wounds slash wide
As my sullen moods follow
I freeze at the yells
Of the sacrificed ones
And helpless witness them flood
Your antic temples
With innocent blood
Like the spinning moth
In the merciless light
The stage is set
For my untimely death
Have you drawn closer
Or is it me
Pray hurry
Torture afresh till dawn
Your victim’s ready
I won’t cry I won’t flee
Of a perfect lover and slayer
Oh Venus I swear
I could never have dream

Amidst the gentle sway of the windmill's blades, nature orchestrates its symphony. Cows graze lazily, sheep roam freely, while the sea whispers tales of old to the mountains. Shadows dance across the field, as trees stand sentinel to the passage of time.
Amidst the fallen brown leaves, withering flower stems, seed heads and bare shrubs yesterday morning was a patch of happily growing Eastern Daisy Fleabane (Erigeron annuus).
Often maligned as a ubiquitous "weed," this beautiful little wildflower is actually as helpful as she is lovely. A "pioneering" plant, Fleabane quickly populate recently disturbed areas like fields, abandoned lots, roadsides and construction areas - in this case at the edge of the recently dredged Lyman Pond.
Once established, Fleabane act as groundcovers preventing the bare soil from eroding as well as adding organic matter to the soil as they move through their lifecycles. Fleabane are also a great food source for local wildlife and pollinators.
It arrived amidst the images and dreams and the down torrents of heavy rain that fell upon us mid may, I gazed upon this bird, this symbol of sweet truth and contemplated the never ending floods of rain we in the United Kingdom all endured, .....perhaps I thought Noah resides in the heavens in a sea of humid air and water, casting self assurances to the people and crew, that dry land will be found soon, dry and warmed by the glorious sunlight and miles away from this sea of grey gloom.
Amidst all of the grandeur in Utah's Big Five National Parks, its state parks give no quarter. We loved our hike in Kodachrome Basin State Park, as seen here in this panoramic taken on April 24, 2023. The Angel's Palace Trail there is recommended for photographers, which is the hike we took. Kodachrome is a short distance from Bryce, so factor it in for your Bryce visit.

Amidst the darkest clouds
There was hope.
Folks, another first from me; first time working with textures. Not sure what I did, but I like the retro look. Let me know what you think, and if you have any tips on working with textures effectively, do share!
Amidst all the showy summer flowers, the oak already anticipates the onset of a season of quite a different character, reflecting even the hues of a time just ahead. The inevitable tiny observer, as ever, utilizes the process for his own purposes.
Amidst the plentiful white asters we have here this time of year I found one aster plant with lavender flowers. My best ID guess is willowleaf aster, which would be a new species for my prairie wildflower species collection. Any ID confirmation or correction would be appreciated.

Amidst the bobbing yachts of Loch Lomond Marina, we observed a Horned Grebe, its small, streamlined body perfectly adapted for the water. The bird, in its nonbreeding plumage, displayed a clean palette of gray and white, its dark cap sharply delineated from its bright cheeks. Its straight, fine bill, so unlike the broad bill of a duck, hinted at its specialized hunting techniques.

Amidst the vast expanse of land, sea, and sky, a lone sentinel stands defiantly against the elements. Split Rock Lighthouse, an architectural marvel perched upon the rugged cliffs, appears diminutive in comparison to the titanic forces that surround it. Like a speck in the grand tapestry of nature, this humble structure is dwarfed by the sheer magnitude of its surroundings. The land stretches out in an unyielding embrace, the sea crashes against the rocks with a primal roar, and the heavens above boast an infinite canopy of swirling clouds. In this juxtaposition of the minuscule and the majestic, one cannot help but marvel at the audacity of human ambition in the face of nature's relentless power. Split Rock Lighthouse, a testament to man's resilience, forever etched in the annals of time.
1932 Packard Twin Six Sport Phaeton
Amidst the backdrop of the economic turmoil that marked the onset of the 1930s, several prominent American luxury car manufacturers grappled with the idea of introducing more affordable models to bolster their financial stability. In 1927, Cadillac had ventured into the mid-priced segment with the LaSalle, but over at its rival, Packard, discussions on offering an entry-level model were fraught with debate. The board of directors expressed concerns about the potential risk of diluting the prestigious Packard name or alienating their loyal, high-end clientele who cherished the brand's exclusivity. Simultaneously, dealers were clamoring for a broader product range to cater to a wider audience. The introduction of the mid-priced "Shovelnose" 900 in 1932 laid bare the complex relationship between the board and dealers. Within a single model year, the 900 was discontinued, underscoring the internal tensions.
Nonetheless, Packard remained steadfast in its commitment to serving its traditional clientele, offering a range of flagship models that exuded the same opulence and grandeur as ever. In 1932, in response to Cadillac's foray into the multi-cylinder realm, Packard revived its iconic Twin-Six model, which had been absent for nine years. The revived Twin-Six featured a remarkable 67-degree L-head V12 engine, delivering a robust 160 horsepower and 322 lb/ft of torque. While not as technologically advanced as Cadillac's overhead-valve Sixteen, the Packard Twin Six matched its power with unparalleled refinement and dependability. Accompanying this formidable V12 engine was a novel X-braced chassis, equipped with four-wheel vacuum-assisted brakes, a synchronized gearbox, and Packard's meticulous engineering of steering and suspension.
Few would contest the Packard Twin Six's standing as one of the finest production cars of its era. Prices ranged from $3,650 to over $7,000 for long-wheelbase models with Packard's renowned Individual Custom coachwork. In a prelude to the challenging economic climate of the coming years, only 549 fortunate individuals chose to invest in a Twin-Six. Today, just as when it was newly introduced, the Packard Twin Six ranks among the most coveted automobiles of the Classic Era, celebrated for its exquisite style and exceptional performance.
Raymond Dietrich’s reputation was beyond reproach among stylists of the late 1920s and early 1930s, and his designs provided welcome new ideas and concepts for Packard’s own coachwork. With the 9th series, Dietrich performed some of his best work; beautiful, elegant machines that made the best of Packard’s fabulous new chassis that was larger, more powerful and faster than any standard model that preceded it. In particular, the “Individual Custom by Dietrich” bodies, which were custom tailored for the flagship senior Packard Chassis (9th, 10th and 11th series) truly reflected the masterful talent of Dietrich. Though they could be purchased directly from a Packard dealer, they were hugely expensive, representing the most costly models available aside from true one-off custom coachwork. Each body was custom-tailored to the buyer’s wishes and in many ways they were the last truly custom Dietrich bodies, as later production cars wearing the Dietrich name simply borrowed styling cues from earlier Individual Customs. Even after Dietrich’s ouster from the firm that bore his name, his influence was felt on Packard’s design catalog for many years to come, and Dietrich-bodied Packards continue to draw attention from collectors and enthusiasts for their impeccable, breathtaking style.

Amidst all the excitement of the exotic animals you tend to forget about the scenery which is around the Wildlife Park. This was just so special to see and it will tell just how cold it actually was.
