One of the alternative shots I took at sunrise on Tuesday morning, I could not walk past this lovely Dewey tree branch without taking a shot. It was a very damp atmosphere with the mist helping to diffuse the backlight on the dew drops .
But it is the photo one of my children would have chosen for the just white paper macro Monday theme
The sun set to the right and behind a ridge not visible in this scene. However, on this occasion, as it dipped below the horizon, the brilliant reds reflected on the clouds above us and again in the water below - making it a lovely alternative to the actual sunset itself.

I know. I just want to say that going is not the only way. We can also ride a bike - and on very slick tyres.

Escapism it certainly can be. But that is not all. It does not necessarily mean to look the other way. Celebrating beauty and life, and the preservation of both, can also be an act of resistance, of not giving in to the rationality of industrialised death. Not shouting "hurrah", but taking care of life can be an expression of one's alternative approach. Beauty can be subversive, just like the dream of paradise can. Unfortunately trouble occurred with the storage media (SD card) in my camera when I have just arrived at the alpine flower field.
