Originally built for W.P. Skinner in 1855 and now the home of Marietta College's Alpha Xi Delta sorority, this was the former home of Ohio's 3rd governor, George White. White purchased the home in 1908. Elected in 1931 Governor White had to deal with the Great Depression. Upon taking office White successfully reduced the state budget by twenty million dollars, a fifteen percent reduction. He also created the Ohio Highway Patrol and implemented sales taxes on cosmetics, cigarettes, and other non-essential items to increase state revenue. In 1934, White sought reelection, but lost to Republican Martin L. Davey. White sought election to the United States Senate in 1936, 1942, and 1948, but lost all three times. He died on December 15, 1953.
Monitor Team Alpha, from left to right: (Azermith & Co fans shouldn't need this) Miles, Ray, and Khryz.
Miles is viewed as the "youngest" and "most innocent" of the Monitor Teams. He is the most naive and childlike, and acts on his feelings rather than instincts.
Ray acts as Miles' "older brother," abusing him here and there, but Ray really does like Miles.
Khryz is the sniper of the team. He is more outgoing and risk-taking than Miles or Ray, but not by much.
I captured this Alpha Capricornid meteor on my DSLR. It's the fainter streak on the right; the brighter one is an aircraft. This event was detected by many cameras across the UK Meteor Network, including our NW facing one. The ground track shows it was somewhere near York.
Our meteor cameras are much more sensitive than my budget DSLR so these events look much brighter on the meteor cameras than they do on my Canon 1100D!

What makes for the ultimate road trip? Hitchhiking, truck stops, angry bears, prickly porcupines and a golfing goose with a duck caddy. Just ask Kate and Humphrey, two wolves who are trying to get home after being taken by park rangers and shipped halfway across the country. Humphrey is an Omega wolf, whose days are about quick wit, snappy one-liners and hanging with his motley crew of fun-loving wolves and video-gaming squirrels. Kate is an Alpha: duty, discipline and sleek Lara Croft eye-popping moves fuel her fire. Humphrey’s motto – make ‘em laugh. Kate’s motto – I’m the boss. And they have a thousand miles to go.
Back home rival wolf packs are on the march and conflict is brewing. Only Kate and Humphrey can restore the peace. But first, they have to survive each other.
