A Quickie All-in-one Moleskine Diary/Sketchbook in Leather Cover

The day I decided to use the Moleskine 18 months weekly diary from July I knew I would have problem pulling out what I need from my bag. It has the same size and look as the Moleskine sketch book I'm using. Knowing that I will be using both quite often in this coming half year starting from my trip to Tokyo next week, I did something drastic in 30 minutes.

First I ruined the back of these 2 notebooks by putting 4 snaps on them so that they can stick together yet removable if I want to. Note that the two notebooks are snapped together so that the top of one is aligned with the bottom of the other. There is a good enough space in between because of the height of the snaps, so it works well to put a pen holder there. I just punched and set two eyelets to hold the broad elastic band together, then a metal wire is passed through the two eyelets to make a ring which helps to keep the elastic band in place on the spines, again this is removable if I don't need a pen holder.

Assembling it is easy, just put the pen holder in between the back of these two notebooks, snap the notebooks together and there you go. At this stage leather freak like me couldn't stop but made a cover for this so that the metal ring of the pen holder is concealed and I have the look I want.

Finally, to distinguish which side is which notebook, I stamped on the leather cover "Time" for the diary side and "Note" for the sketchbook side. Whenever I feel like using the other side, I flip the notebook vertically. The original Moleskine elastic bands can be used to enclose the leather cover but I like a clean look so most of the time they are enclosing the pages only.

You are probably wondering why there are some flying pigs on one of the Moleskines, that's a gift sketchbook from Steve Light. What's that pen you asked? Pilot 1979 Murex fountain pen, also a gift from a good friend Kelly.

Why don't you put him on the ground and slowly back away.....

Every island has a sculpture in the cruise port that spells out the name of the island so that you can get your perfect social media shot and become famous. Frankly, I find them boring and if you look you'll see the way to get the good shot is to have your model laying on the ground in front of the sculpture. Either that or lay yourself on the ground with a real wide lens and shoot up at your model, something that most won't do.

While I'm not a fan of the sign, I am a fan of the people looking to get that "perfect shot to post". People line up to get a picture there and while most do the same old stand in front of it there's always a couple of folks who try to get creative. Those are the ones that I like to watch.

I think this shot expresses exactly what I'm talking about so Thank You to the goofballs who are trying to be original. You may not be Instagram or TikTok famous but you'll definitely be seen on Flickr!

PS:

For those in the Show Your EXIF group you should note that the actual lens used is a Tamron AF 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II VC All-in-One Zoom for Canon APS-C Digital SLR. For some crazy reason it always shows up as a Canon TS-E 90mm f/2.8, a lens I've never owned or used!

Like a moth to a flame, Todd was drawn to the Fire Truck!

This past weekend the Fiesta De Los Vaqueros was held in Tucson, Also know as the Tucson Rodeo. My lodge building:

www.facebook.com/nelsoncbledsoe74/

is directly across the street from the rodeo grounds so every year we park cars in our lot as a fundraiser. All the money raised goes back to the charities we support in the community.

Anyhow, back to Todd....

Chief Todd Canales is the 355th CES fire chief at DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Tucson AZ:

www.dm.af.mil/Media/News/Article/2315464/fire-department-...

and one of my brothers in the lodge. When he saw the Tucson city fire truck coming down the road he had to run out and stop traffic for them so that they could get through. I guess it's that universal bond that firefighters all around the world share.

In the Maldives - Dhigali

Who will ever come to bring me out of my drowned world ?"

"Quel giorno tu sei venuto, mi hai avvolto nelle tue bianche ali e mi hai salvato dal mio mondo sommerso...e ancora stiamo volando!"

It's been said that if you find a job that you love you'll never work a day in your life!

As we were headed back aboard the ship in Antigua I happened to see these fellows out performing some sort of ship maintenance so I fired off a couple of shots. Evidently they saw me and obliged me with a smile.

I would imagine they're probably thinking "Why is this crazy tourist taking a picture of us" and had I met them while aboard I would have gladly told them this is my way of honoring the job they do to make my holiday a success..

When you take a cruise holiday your every need is catered to and you've got nothing to worry about.

Sometimes it's easy to forget that there are a LOT of of people both in the front and back of the house that make things happen for your dream vacation to be the best it can be. Folks that aren't on holiday, they're working at their jobs to provide for their families back home.

If you should ever go on a cruise I hope that you won't forget these folks and will let them know that you appreciate the hard work they put in to make things easy for you. They bust their butts so that you don't have to.

I don't believe so. Just give him a wave and maybe he'll go away.

As I said previously people were starting to loosen up and getting in the party mood. Everyone was having a good time when I saw these folks.

I have no idea who they are or who they were waving at. I seriously doubt it was me since a person pointing a camera at someone hardly ever brings a wave, more like a shaking fist. No matter, I took the shot and it came out not half bad. I did have to do a non-standard crop on this to get rid of some distracting fluff in the background, one of those things you deal with when you're out in public.

Niccy and I just got back from a 2 week cruise down in the Caribbean, a trip that was supposed to be in the UK but thanks to the whole covid fiasco that was not meant to be. We were on the P&O Britannia and as we quickly found out we were the only Americans aboard! We had a good time, got to see some new ports and enjoyed the weather.

I can tell exactly what she was thinking and I could probably repeat exactly what she said!

Niccy and I were on the back deck when we were leaving Bonaire and got this shot. The sun was headed down and had a real pretty light to it so I whipped the camera out and started shooting.

Niccy is a real good sport when it comes to me taking pictures. She'll hang out for the first 3 or 4 then I get the eyes and the "Lovey, enough already!", my signal to start wrapping things up.

I'll usually get a few more (just for good measure) then put the camera away till the next opportunity comes around.

I told her one time that when I stop taking pictures of her is when she needs to start worrying. I can guarantee that I'll be taking a lot more just to make sure she has no worries!

A bigger hard drive is better than a smaller one. See a trend here?

The iMac's hard drive isn't user-upgradeable, so you must make a tough decision about hard drive size up front. You can choose a 500 GB or 1 TB hard drive, or go for broke and get a 2 TB hard drive.

Remember, you won't be able to easily change the internal hard drive later, so pick the largest size you can comfortably afford. If cost is really an issue, don't feel you have to blow the budget up front. You can always add an external hard drive later, although that somewhat defeats the purpose of an all-in-one computer.

More iMac's and desks are better than one. Think different.

Being the curious sort I have to wonder just exactly "what" really is!

Got this shot as we were coming back aboard the Britannia in Sint Maarten.

I noticed the security guy was carrying a very strange looking device and got a bit curious. I'd made a friend with one of the security guys onboard and asked him what this was all about. He said (with a bit of a wink) that this fellow was looking for "bugs in the produce being brought aboard".

I don't know about you but I've got the feeling that the "bugs" he was looking for might be the kind they don't have a cure for yet or may just have an Atomic Number attached to their genus. I can't say for sure but a cruise ship full of souls certainly would be an attractive attack vector for bad actors wanting to spread some chaos.

Now I can neither confirm nor deny any of this but the Red Pill side of me says there's much, much more to the story...

BTW, if you know what this device is (it's not a hoover, I've checked google images) and you're at liberty to tell us please do so.

Niccy is one of those folks who believes that these megaconglomorates actually care about what you think!

As we were headed back to Barbados a survey form showed up in the cabin which Niccy duly filled out. I've told her before that they really don't care (especially negative comments) and it's a good illusion but she still takes the time to put pen to paper. Who knows, maybe someday someone WILL read what she's wrote and it will be the catalyst for change for the better. That's not a bet that I'd take though...

When you live in a stick built house you usually don't have to worry about emptying your tanks but on a yacht it's not quite the same. Your grey and black water goes into tanks that will eventually fill up. You probably don't have a city connection to the sewer system so who you gonna call? That's right, PepeLaPoo to the rescue!

There's a variation on this service for the Snowbirds who choose to camp up at Quartzsite for the winter, a truck that roams the LTVA. For a fee they'll empty out your tanks so you don't have to go into town and try to find a dump.

It takes a different sort of person to the gold in the black water and I've got to applaud the entrepreneurial spirit that Charlie has shown!l
