Taken on the river Thames in Kent, England near to where I live on this evening the world was on fire, one of the best sunsets that I have seen there!

got these and we weren't sure how they would look all lit up-- pretty cool, eh?

My dog and I were out and about yesterday. We came to this area that had all sorts of evidence of large birds landing in and taking off from the snow. While we were walking, a raven came and scolded us loudly from overhead, circling and setting a sort of perimeter for itself in the forest airspace around the trail. I suspect that there is a raven's nest in nearby trees, but haven't seen it. When I think this is the case, I don't look too hard for the sake of leaving the nesting animals alone. But it's a very cool experience to have so much happening around me while on a walk with the dog.

It was good to see more than one or two people getting off the South Shore in Hammond during the rush hour.

This tri-colored heron was flitting about the marsh and ended up alighting in this rather tall bush. The bokeh is from the drying long grasses in the marshland.

A shot of the lit up Rainbow Bridge over the River Great Ouse in Bedford. The lights on the bridges over this river look gorgeous this time of year...

Another shot below taken a bit further up the River...

Loaded with coal, a Class 58 hauled train has just crossed the River Trent, quite likely on its way to a power station such as nearby Radcliffe.

Not having a car at that time, I decided that I could lineside by catching a train at St. Pancras, changing at Leicester and alighting at Long Eaton. It would have then been a walk.

The wagons are MGRs - short for Merry Go Round - which had the official TOPS code of HAA.

Aloha kākou! Hello, everyone! Here's a lovely gown from Spyralle to share with you today, featured at the Mystic Market this month. Sibyl Forest comes in both 'plain' and 'glyph' versions, and is just a perfect colour for me.

Nature's Splendor by EarthStones is a beautiful necklace-and-earring set that features a beautiful little texture-change HUD. There are three sets of leaves here, so you can colour them individually or all together if you prefer.

The glyphs version of the dress features patterns that remind me of the ki‘i pohaku, the petroglyphs on the Hawaiian islands. I definitely love the look, although if you prefer it without them, "un-glyphed" versions are also included!

This edition of Mystic Market ends soon, so you might want to stop by sooner than later! Kerryth has a good record of bringing her event clothing into the main store, so if you miss it, you'll have another chance. And stop by The Lost Unicorn for a magical little visit. There have been some recent updates, and the sim just keeps getting better and better.

Aloha kākou! A hui hou!

how long since i've spent a whole night in a twin bed with a stranger

warm arms all around me ..

and how long since i've gazed into dark eyes that melted my soul down

to a place where it longs to be ?

all of your history has little to do with your grace

you're mainly a mystery, with violins filling in space ..

you stood in the nude by the mirror and picked out a rose

from the bouquet in our hotel

and lay down beside me again and i watched the rose on the pillow

as it fell

i sank and i slept in a twilight with only one care

to know that when day broke and i awoke that you'd still be there

the hours for once they passed slowly unendingly by

like a sweet breeze on a field

your gentleness came down upon me

and i guess i thanked you when you caused me to yield

we spoke not a sentence and took not a footstep beyond

our few days together which seemingly soon would be gone

don't tell me of love everlasting

and other sad dreams

i don't want to hear

just tell me of passionate strangers who rescue each other

from a lifetime of cares

because if love means forever expecting nothing returned

then I hope i'll be given another whole lifetime to learn

'cause you gave to me oh so many things

it makes me wonder

how they could belong to me

and i gave you only my soft eyes

which melted your soul down

to the place where it longed to be

dear Fairy God aunties & uncles,

sweet baby solstice will be flying any day now!  maybe today :))    later note: SHE DID FLY TODAY!!!

here she is practicing :) ~ as her wonderful mama teaches her from the bough above *

when you walk to the edge of all the light you have

and you take the first step into the darkness of the unknown

you must believe that one of the two things will happen..

there will be something solid for you to stand upon

or you will be taught to fly!

As the autumn leaves begin to turn, it is lovely when you get the sort of light that highlights and backlights so well!

Sunset on Rodeo Beach, located in the Fort Cronkhite area of the Marin Headlands, one of the most special places in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area with access to multiple trails, fantastic views, a dog-friendly beach, fascinating geology, and an interesting history. As a pocket beach, Rodeo Beach sands do not migrate up or down the coast. Instead, they are carried a short distance offshore in winter, tumble about in the surf, and then return to replenish the beach in the spring and summer. Thus, the sands of Rodeo Beach are native to the Marin Headlands and reflect the Franciscan geology of the closest hills and cliffs. This earthcache focuses on the abundant radiolarian chert and rare carnelian pebbles.

Walking back to the boat after 2 hours waiting for a Kingfisher to fly passed/land nearby/get spotted, I was fortunate to realise, from some distance away, the little tease had landed on the front headlight ! I managed to fire a few shots before it was disturbed by another boat.
