He was born on 8th Nov 1909 in Genoa, Italy and died on 12th April 2001 in Monte Carlo.
He studied with Felix Weingartner at Basle and with Fritz Busch at Dresden. He made his debut in 1930 at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome.
Amongst the opera houses he conducted in were the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, Bayreuth and Covent Garden.

Various lettering styles for a restaurant in Granada, Spain. Slab Serif, looks like Serifa, but especially the right line has been extended ‘electronically’. The horizontal stems have become much thinner than the vertical stems. The quality of a slab serif typeface lies in serifs that are almost as thick as the stems, here the typeface has lost that quality.
