Via di San Michele. A filming location from I, Vitelloni by Federico Fellini, taken on my D7000 & converted into B&W.
Its a brief scene where a hungover Alberto, after the canival, is helped by Moraldo to his home where he finds out his sister Olga is leaving for good.
I tried to find this spot on my first solo trip to Rome in 2018, but the rain ruined my plans.

Poeta y traductor argentino nacido en Buenos Aires en 1919.
Pertenece a la generación de los años cuarenta, aunque su estilo único y personal, no encaja en algún movimiento especial, razón por la cual, recibió grandes elogios y provocó rechazo de algunos sectores debido a su lenguaje a veces incomprensible y extremadamente intelectual.
Es autor de más de treinta volúmenes de prosa y poesía entre los que se destacan: Coronación de la espera en 1947, Poemas elegidos en 1965, Los valores diarios en 1970, Poesía de la observación en 1973, El motivo es el poema en 1976, Páginas de Alberto Girri en 1983 y Juegos alégoricos en 1993.
Tradujo a numerosos poetas ingleses y estadounidenses, tales como T. S. Eliot, Wallace Stevens, Robert Frost , John Donne y William Carlos Williams.

Al tiempo las lentes comenzaron a jugar con Alberto, las miraba de reojo y sonreía. Le fueron buscando por las provincias y le encontraron por los cafes, por las playas transparentes. Poco a poco el gesto fue cogiendo forma, el miedo desaparecía. Surgía la esencia de la mirada. Al final Mojacar fue el destino, un destino al que mirar entornado, seguro, admirado. La sal, calor, jazz y terrazas fueron el rostro veraniego, despreocupado. Pasó agosto y la mirada gira hacia el otoño, en busca de la variación de las estaciones. Siempre en busqueda.

UNA HISTORIA MÁS DE FOTOGRAFÍA DE NATURALEZA 04
………..the story behind the photographer, the story that crosses space and time with the story of the protagonist of the image and which can arise a good "wildlife picture".
Yes, because there is one more story, there is also a story behind the photographer, and of course behind each and every one of the images that take the "wildlife photographers", a story that nobody remembers. Yes, there is a story, there is a story plenty of difficulties, a work story, a study story, a story of sacrifice, loneliness, devotion, risk, commitment, effort, dreams, planning, illusion, danger, fear, stumbles, exhaustion, adversity, perseverance, suffering, scares, patience, nerves, failure, dehydration, pain, diarrhea, cold very cold, hot very hot, itchy very itchy, sweat a lot of sweat, sleep a lot of sleep, discomfort, hunger, thirst, scratches, shocks, infections, falls, dizziness, stings, bites, wounds, vomits, loss, damage, resignation, despair, unpleasant surprises,….....and…....frustration, frustration......and for sure, some other things that many of my colleagues would say. And there are many times, often a lot, when things get ugly, in which you wonder; "but.......what need do I have to .........?.”
Well, all of this is more or less easily carried……………
………a la historia que hay detrás del fotógrafo, a la historia que se cruza en el espacio y el tiempo con la historia del protagonista de la imagen y de la cual puede llegar a surgir una buena ‘foto de naturaleza’.
Sí, porque hay una historia mas, también existe una historia detrás del fotógrafo, y en mayor o menor medida detrás de todas y cada una de las imágenes que realizamos los ‘fotógrafos de naturaleza’. Una historia de la que nadie se acuerda. Sí, hay una historia, una historia plagada de dificultades, una historia de trabajo, una historia de estudio, de sacrificio, de soledad, sueños, dedicación, riesgos, empeño, esfuerzo, planificación, ilusión, peligro, miedo, tropiezos, agotamiento, adversidad, perseverancia, sufrimiento, sustos, paciencia, nervios, fracasos, deshidratación, dolor, diarreas, frío mucho frío, calor mucho calor, picor mucho picor, sudor mucho sudor, sueño mucho sueño, malestar, hambre, sed, arañazos, golpes, infecciones, caídas, mareo, picaduras, mordeduras, heridas, vómitos, extravíos, averías, resignación, desesperación, sorpresas desagradables,…...y……….frustración, frustración.…. y seguro algunas otras cosas que aportarían muchos de mis colegas. Existen muchas ocasiones, muchas, cuando las cosas se ponen feas, en las que te preguntas; “pero………… ¿qué necesidad tengo yo……..?”.
Bueno, al final todo eso se sobrelleva más o menos bien.………………

UNA HISTORIA MÁS DE FOTOGRAFÍA DE NATURALEZA 01
I was talking to some of my students about what wildlife picture was more valuable, the picture in which technical aspects prevailed, I mean: correct frame; an exquisite composition; care focused; perfect light measured; contrast searched, etc., or, in the opposite that, even with inadequate technical aspects : poorly framed; out of focus; poor composition; faulty measurement light; excessive contrast; but, "buuuuuut", it had.................an extraordinary…………….......documentary value. After deliberating a long time about it, we came to the hard conclusion that what makes really valuable a wildlife picture (as I think any other image), is both: a refined technique and a great documentary value, and I think that is what any self-respecting photographer wants to achieve
But that was when………………..
Me encontraba conversando con algunos de mis alumnos sobre qué imagen de naturaleza era más valiosa, si aquella en la cual primaban los aspectos técnicos, es decir: un encuadre correcto, una composición exquisita, enfoque cuidado, medición de la luz perfecta, contraste buscado, etc, o, por el contrario, aquella, aún en la cual los aspectos técnicos eran pobres: mal encuadrada, mal enfocada, composición deficiente, medición de la luz defectuosa; contraste excesivo,……“Peeeeero”…….que tuviera un valor documental………….extraordinario. Después de deliberar un buen rato sobre ello, llegamos a la dura conclusión de que lo que hace realmente valiosa una “foto de naturaleza” (igual que creo que cualquier otra imagen) es, ambas cosas: una técnica depurada y un gran valor documental, y supongo, es a eso a lo que aspira cualquier fotógrafo que se precie.
Pero fue entonces………………
