A client in Fort Myers called recently to report their air conditioner wasn't cooling properly. When we inspected the equipment we quickly realized the coils were frozen up. This is typically caused by one of three things happening, insufficient air flow, attempting to cool the home too quickly by setting the thermostat too low during the heat of the day, or low on freon or whichever coolant your equipment happens to use. That was the case in this situation. Even a microscopic pinhole in your coolant lines, coils, or compressor will eventually result in insufficient levels of coolant, which can lead to less than adequate levels of comfort in your home as well as the potential for serious damage to your a/c equipment.

This control panel is for the air conditioning chillers in one of the high rise buildings that I used to manage in the Sydney CBD.
The three gauges show that only one of three chillers is running as the image was taken on a cold winter's day in July.
Come summer all three chillers would be running and the noise coming from them would comparable to standing next to a jet engine running at full throttle!
