On consulting colour swatches in Google Images, the shade of pink for this wall at the Art Gallery of South Australia is somewhere between Flamingo and Salmon. The ornately carved wooden arch in the foreground and the picture frames complement the matte wall and airconditioning vents.

A beautifully spare image — almost pure geometry, with rust bleeding through the slats like a secret. I liked how the interplay of light and shadow highlights the rust and textures of this metal HVAC grille set in weathered concrete bricks, documenting the passage of the years. And for those with time on their hands, the sense of urban grit might invite one to contemplate the stories hidden behind this simple yet intriguing facade.

Aeolus was the keeper of the winds in Greek mythology. A ventilation grille is essentially a modern Aeolian device, controlling what passes through and what doesn't.

Tijdens mijn bezoek op de zolderetage van het rijksmuseum voor Oudheden in Leiden zag ik tussen de oudheden ineens 2 priemende rode ogen op een zwarte muur. Het lijkt een onderdeel van de klimaatbeheeersingsinstallatie te zijn (denk ik). Overigens staat de tekst op het middenstukje op zijn kop.
