Perito Moreno Glacier

Los Glaciares National Park, Patagonia, Argentina.

The Perito Moreno Glacier is a glacier located in Los Glaciares National Park in southwest Santa Cruz Province, Argentina.

It is one of the most significant attractions in the Argentine Patagonia.

Area: 96.53 mi²

Length: 30 km (19 mi)

Los Glaciares National Park

A UNESCO World Heritage Site. Created in 1937, Los Glaciares National Park is the second largest National Park in Argentina, comprising more than 1,700 square miles and 50 Glaciers. These Glaciers are fed by a giant icecap that begins in the Andes Mountains.

She comes every day to pick at the birdseed. She knows who I am and watches me as I do the same and watch her. There is a trust and an agreement for both of us to be friendly but not push too far. I know she is wild and she thinks that I may be too. So we sit close to each other and share some time and space for a bit of comfort and quiet in this crazy world. Her name is Mama.

Whilst not the biggest of the major glaciers in Los Glaciares National Park, Spegazzini Glacier is a hugely impressive sight, if for no other reason than the sheer size of its wall, which can tower as high as 135 metres (440 feet).

The Spegazzini glacier is one of the bordering glaciers between Argentina and Chile after the Agreement to specify the route of the limit from Mount Fitz Roy to Cerro Daudet in 1998 . The lower section of the glacier is located in Argentina, in the Lago Argentino department of the Santa Cruz province . Its source is in Chile, in the province of Último Esperanza in the Magallanes region . It is protected by the Bernardo O'Higgins and Los Glaciares National Parks.

It has an area of 134 km² and an average width of 1.5 km . The glacier originates from the South Patagonian ice field and flows eastward, reaching the Spegazzini arm of Lake Argentino . Its main characteristic is the great height of its front, which reaches 135 m, making it the highest in Los Glaciares National Park and one of the most important. The vegetation around it produces a marked contrast of colors, produced by glacier erosion, humidity, wind and the sun.

It owes its name to the botanist Carlos Luis Spegazzini , who was the first to study the local flora.

The glacier is fed by the Mayo Norte and Peineta glaciers. In addition, it has the peculiarity of not showing signs of retreat, which is a phenomenon common to large glaciers.

Black tailed Godwit - Limosa Limosa

These large wading birds are a Schedule 1 species. In summer, they have bright orangey-brown chests and bellies, but in winter they're more greyish-brown.

Their most distinctive features are their long beaks and legs, and the black and white stripes on their wings. Female black-tailed godwits are bigger and heavier than the males, with a noticeably longer beak (which helps the sexes to avoid competing for food with each other).

They're very similar to bar-tailed godwits, which breed in the Arctic. Black-tailed godwits have longer legs, and bar-tailed godwits don't have striped wings. As the names suggest, the tail patterns are different, too.

Black-tailed godwits are much more likely to be found on inland wetlands than the more coastal bar-tailed godwit. They migrate in flocks to western Europe, Africa, south Asia and Australia. Although this species occurs in Ireland and Great Britain all year-round, they are not the same birds. The breeding birds depart in autumn, but are replaced in winter by the larger Icelandic race. These birds occasionally appear in the Aleutian Islands and, rarely, on the Atlantic coast of North America.

There is an estimated global population of between 634,000 and 805,000 birds and estimated range of 7,180,000 square kilometres (2,770,000 sq mi). In 2006 BirdLife International classified this species as Near Threatened due to a decline in numbers of around 25% in the previous 15 years. It is also among the species to which the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA) applies.

In Europe, black-tailed godwits are only hunted in France, with the annual total killed estimated at 6,000 to 8,000 birds. This puts additional pressure on the western European population, and the European Commission has a management plan in place for the species in its member states. In England, black-tailed godwits were formerly much prized for the table. Sir Thomas Browne (1605–1682) said: "[Godwits] were accounted the daintiest dish in England and I think, for the bignesse, of the biggest price."

Population:

UK breeding:

54-57 pairs of the limosa 'Eurasian' subspecies, and 7-9 pairs of the islandica subspecies

UK wintering:

44,000 birds from the Icelandic population

UK passage:

Union Masonic Lodge No. 108 located in the Homesteaders' Village located in the Manitoba Agricultural Museum grounds in the Town of Austin Manitoba Canada

In 1986 Union Lodge decided to give up their charter as an active lodge on the Registry of the Grand Lodge of Manitoba. R. W. Bro. Alvin G. Hewitt was the District Deputy Grand Master of District 2 at the time, he and several brethren of the District decided to have the lodge moved and placed as a working lodge on the street of the Manitoba Agricultural Museum. Negotiations got under way with the Board of the Agricultural Museum and with the Board of General Purposes of the Grand Lodge of Manitoba. An agreement was reached and a small group started on the project of fund raising. The Masons of Manitoba were most generous in their support and in a very short time the building was moved from the Town of Brookdale to the grounds of the Manitoba Agricultural Museum.

I guess the three cubbies are in agreement of what they think of their big brother Amari...lol

This photo is from one of their first meetings so both cubs and Amari were still getting to know each other. Now, it is very different and the cubs groom Amari and vice versa.

It took a good solid week of gradual introductions for them to get to this point though.

By the keepers being persistent and Misty reprimanding Amari when needed, has lead to him now being able to be part of the pride.

I just adore their faces.

Just something quick I built in about 20 minutes. The extra layering is just so that the thin build is held together. I found a use for some of my sand green plates and bricks which is good, I really like how the cacti look.

Comments and favorites are greatly appreciated :)

In certain situations of life creates strong bonds between humans and the animal world. My feeling then, but today, I suggest that the proposed image is one of those

situations. It is usually said that the dog is man's best friend, in this case it seems to me that the friendship is amply returned.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Forty nine metres at 09:36am on Saturday 20th February 2021 off Blackheath Avenue and Charlton Way in the grounds of Greenwich Park, one of the Royal Parks of London situated in Greenwich, South East London.

Here we see, Sciurus Carolinensis (Eastern Gray Squirrel or Grey Squirrel), a tree squirrel native to North America and first introduced to the UK in the 1870's. Though it was largely responsible for the decimation of our own native red squirrel population, those are now on the increase and found in certain parts of the UK including Scotland. The Greys are still an ecologically essential natural forester regenerator.

The beautiful and historic old pier in Hastings, East Sussex, England, was destroyed completely by a devastating fire on Tuesday 5 October 2010. Like many of a certain generation, in those flames went the memories of my childhood and youth, simpler days when the world was a nicer place and people less angry and unforgiving.

Little did I know that when this photograph was taken, at an altitude of Three metres at 10:10am on Sunday June 20th 20110, off Eversfield Place A259 past the White Rock Theatre, they would be my last ever photographs of this iconic landmark. Less than four months later she was gone.

The pier was designed by Eugenius Birch and spanned 910 feet in length with a maximum width of 190 feet. Her prime was in the 1930's.

Following the death of the 4th earl in 1960, an agreement was reached whereby the estate would pass to the National Trust in lieu of death duties. The deal was finalised and the house opened to the public in 1966. The estate was immediately leased to Staffordshire County Council, who managed and maintained it on behalf of the National Trust, with Lord Lichfield retaining an apartment in the hall until his death in 2005, paying a nominal rent to the new owners. His successor, the 6th Earl, decided to relinquish the lease of the apartments, thus severing the family's direct links with the estate.

In 2016 Staffordshire County Council handed the estate back to the National Trust

With the conductor back on the head end after doubling up their train at West Wye, CPKC train YKK20-19, "Run 20", digs into the grade at Sheffield on Main Track 1 of the KCT East-West Corridor as the begin their trip across town with a transfer from CPKC's Knoche Yard to BNSF's Argentine Yard. Here, they're meeting their counterpart transfer, BNSF train Y-KCK1221,19I, which is holding on Main Track 4 while waiting for a few moves to clear, specifically for Run 20 to finish their double and leave.

As the transfer agreements are currently decided, BNSF and CPKC both deliver transfers to each others yards, but they return home as light power. Example, Run 20, a daylight job, will bring the Knoche to Argentine transfer and return home light, and BNSF's Y-KCK3111, a third trick job, will bring the Argentine to Knoche transfer and return home light. However, in today's case, last night's 311 Job never left Argentine, so today's 122 Job delivered to Knoche, meeting Run 20 on the way across town. 1/19/25.

Richborough Castle contains the ruins of a Roman Saxon Shore fort, collectively known as Richborough Fort or Richborough Roman Fort. It situated in Richborough near Sandwich, Kent, in the United Kingdom.

Rutupiae or Portus Ritupis was founded by the Romans after their invasion of Britain in ad 43. Because of its position near the mouth of the Stour, Rutupiae was the major British port under the Romans and the starting point for their equivalent of Watling Street. Additional routes connected Durovernum (Canterbury) with further ports at Dubris (Dover), Lemanis (Lympne), and Regulbium (Reculver). Earth fortifications were first dug on the site in the 1st century, probably was as a storage depot and bridgehead for the Roman army. This transformed into a civilian and commercial town, which was later replaced by a Saxon Shore fort around the year 277. The later fort is believed to have been constructed by the rebel Carausius. The site is now under the care of English Heritage.

We had so much fun (despite the heat :P) photographing each other and shopping. Sarah and Bella also modeled in an editorial for me! They are so gorgeous and cute. I love them both ♥

26 February 2021: In the week to 22 February on average 2293 people tested positive each day in Belgium. The figure is up 23% on the week. In light of these deteriorating statistics the group of experts that advises the government stated that the present epidemiological situation does not allow for any relaxations during the next four weeks. I’m wondering what the latest say of the government will be. Will they be able to resist the mounting demand of pressure groups requesting immediate relaxation of the current measures? Me personally, I’m in full agreement with the experts: there is no leeway for relaxations in March. Since the figures started rising during the weekend, Ghent has reported the highest fourteen-day average for coronavirus infections out of all the major cities in Belgium. The symptoms with which patients present themselves at the hospital are generally more severe than in previous weeks. Additionally, patients are also deteriorating faster. Around half of the patients who tested positive for the virus in the hospital are requiring intensive care, and new hospital admissions are no longer mainly elderly people. According to a lung specialist at the University Hospital of Ghent, these symptoms are typical of the start of a new wave. Let’s hope for the best and prepare for the worse. Meanwhile, in between ongoing video conferences I’m finding joy in taking pictures in Ghent and surroundings and/or in curating images out of my archive. Today’s post is from the midst of this year’s winter snap, just over a week ago – Citadelpark, Ghent, Belgium.

Synchronized swimming always fascinated me, every since I was a child. How it was performed, just seemed so inconceivable to me. I always thought about how much pressure it must be to not mess anything up. I know there are many sports with similar pressures, but I remember how stunned I always was when I saw these teams compete.

And this amazement was my inspiration for this image.

A office building near Marienplatz that caught my eye.

A Terraversan peace agreement had been reached with Oleon, and a large portion of the Corlander expeditionary forces stationed in Westface were beginning to withdraw to points across the Brick Seas.

Colonel Allcock had decided to stay in Westface with the remaining soldiers for the time being to assist L'Olius in establishing the new Commonwealth, and to justify the free trade agreement Corrington enjoyed with the new state.

Before the commanders of the departing forces set sail, Allcock invited them to the inn where he kept rooms to share in a celebratory toast and meat pies.

In attendance were Colonel Allcock, Major Brickford, Lord Spud, Don Isaac Montoya, Captain Brickleton, Captain Cooke, and Captain Redding.

Colonel Allcock led a toast: "To the new Commonwealth of Terraversa! To the Queen! To Corrington!"

TPPA - Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement

The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a trade agreement among twelve Pacific Rim countries signed on 4 February 2016 in Auckland, New Zealand, after seven years of negotiations. It has not entered into force. The 30 chapters of the TPP concern many matters of public policy and the following stated goals: to "promote economic growth; support the creation and retention of jobs; enhance innovation, productivity and competitiveness; raise living standards; reduce poverty in our countries; and promote transparency, good governance, and enhanced labor and environmental protections." Among other things, the TPP contains measures to lower trade barriers, such as tariffs, and establish an investor-state dispute settlement mechanism (but states can opt out from tobacco-related measures). The United States government considers the TPP a companion agreement to the proposed Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), a broadly similar agreement between the U.S. and the European Union.
