Beautiful soil aggregation in the green house. The multiple soil aggregate sizes tells me that the soil food web is alive and healthy! The mildew on the dead nettle (Lamium purpureum) isn't as good of news.

Quite a large aggregation of these chaps on Budby Heath Notts. Active little bees with a tremendous zig-zag flight pattern. I watched this one working on its hole. They move spoil several centimetres from the hole whilst excavating.

Little aggregation chez Rudi.

Morish Idol Spawning Aggregation

Breeding aggregations of Oval chromis were observed during the months of April & October between 2004-2009 at the same depth and location of a coral reef along the Kona Coast of the Big Island. Males performed courtship behavior, which included dramatic color changes to attract the females. Once mating occurred, females deposited their eggs in areas prepared by the males. Her job completed, the males took over care of the eggs, vigorously defending them against any intruders. Three to four days later the "fry" could be observed schooling a specific, shallow area of the reef near large Porites lobata formations where they could hide in it's crevices from predators.

A fish aggregating (or aggregation) device (FAD) is a man-made object used to attract ocean going pelagic fish such as marlin, tuna and mahi-mahi (dolphin fish).

They usually consist of buoys or floats tethered to the ocean floor with concrete blocks.

Fish are fascinated with floating objects. They aggregate in considerable numbers around objects such as drifting flotsam, rafts, jellyfish, floating seaweed ... FADs!

Currently there are more than eight modules that handle aggregation in Drupal. Several developers are looking at ways to consolidate the strengths of each into one better module for Drupal 7. There is a cool session proposed for DrupalCon in September ot talk about this: barcelona2007.drupalcon.org/node/207. Some of the lead developers will discuss what they’re working on and what current aggregation modules can do, and ask for ideas and feedback of what features the ideal module should include.

Many species of fish in the Gulf of Mexico like this goliath grouper come together and form dense aggregations to spawn. Scientists will begin to compile existing data on these aggregations to get a better understanding of the fisheries, which can help resource managers figure out just how many fish really are in the sea.
