Being used at Tilbury Power Station to move ash. Fleet no. 18045.

Taken on a cold winters morning at the Hall's gravel pit Blackfield in January 1987 I'm told it was minus 10 at the time.

Now a new covering, which is safer but boring, and less of a workout for the old legs than before.

It was interesting to see how water erosion was carving mini ravines in the path over years, ... will it do similar with this layer I wonder ?

Was this at Farnham?

Driver got sacked.

Pictured rounding the bend at Ponthir is the 6A82 12:47 Moreton-on-Lugg - West Drayton stone train, headed by the unique 66718 "Sir Peter Hendy CBE" on 30/5/2014.

Ruston and Hornsby 20DL Class 4-wheel diesel-mechanical (Works No.331264 built in 1952) at Mixconcrete Aggregates, Charlecote, Warwickshire, 30th March 1970. The sand and gravel extraction industries made extensive use of narrow gauge railways, with some even lasting into the 1980s. Along with peat extraction, this was one of the last industries to make significant use of narrow gauge industrial railways in the UK.

Found this aggregating anemone in a tide pool on Kalaloch Beach 4, Olympic National Park.

The distortions in the photo are from small items and air bubbles on the surface of the water. The anemone is about 1.5 inches across.

Built November of 2018, this 2480 cubic ft gondola was built for aggregate service. Manufactured by Trinity Railcar for its leasing subsidiary (TILX), the car was eventually sold to Midwest Railcar Corp and re-lettered to MWCX.

Beyond that, not much has changed for the car. Here, it finds itself in the same job as it rolls through Houston on a UP rock train headed back to a central Texas quarry.

31118 & 31213 pass Wellingborough Station box with a southbound aggregate train on 7th May 1983.

Both locos are seen not far from their place of birth in Loughborough, with 31118 being produced in 1959 and withdrawn in February 1989.

The trailing loco, 31213 was built in 1960 and survives as 31465 (renumbered in 1985) and is currently located at Barrow Hill having served as a Network Rail test train loco.

Wellingborough Station signalbox was closed in 1987 when Leicester PSB took over.

Aggregate Industries "Ice Cream" liveried 59005 Kenneth J Painter and 59001 Yeoman Endeavour pass Parton's Corner near Frome with 7A17 10.24 Merehead to Acton working.

In the consist are a number of Bardon JGAs which appeared on the Mendip routes for a while around this time having not been seen in these parts since the early 90s.

The load in question from the famous Torr Works is of course Limestone, not Rhinestone, sorry Dolly.

Remember going in dads before someone wrote it off.

Doncaster-built 56056 powers empty PTAs past Caledonian Road & Barnsbury station on 1 August 1989. The station was later rebuilt with an extra platform, whilst 56056 was withdrawn back in 2004.
