Okok, I admit it. Once I'd like to play with one of my photos, this is Bodie, a ghost town of gold miners in California. I worked the photo to obtain the "old wild west" flavour. Just missing Billy the Kid in the frame and the image is complete, but the man on the right with his shadow looks like a gunslinger ready for a duel.

I have to admit............ I'm a paper-addict. As long as I can remember I have to feel paper, to smell paper, perhaps in my early childhood have been eaten it ;-)

And since I discovered origami, it got even worse........ I never seem to have the right paper for the model I'm folding ;-)

This is just a SOOC of paper-foil.

For the Macro Mondays theme: Guilty Pleasure.

A very Happy Macro Monday everyone ;-)

Happy New Year!!!

I must admit to sleeping in this morning. Usually my husband and I get up early New Year's day to see the sunrise, but between the late night fun with the family and the overcast weather, we all slept in!

So, I'm uploading a shot from our first heavy snowfall this winter from a couple weeks ago. This is Resthaven Island seen from Vancouver Island's shore. One can see the bridge that leads to it just left of center.

Please don't use this image on websites, blogs, etc. without my permission.

I must admit that I wasn't very interested when the STS group of photographers visiting Skye decided to go to Isleornsay (Eilean Iarmain in Scottish Gaelic). Although the light at this location can be excellent, I lacked a long enough lens to do it justice - so many thanks to Mark Waidson for kindly lending me his 70-300mm lens. The light certainly did cooperate on this occasion, lighting up the snow-covered Beinn Sgritheall (974 m) on the mainland and the lighthouse on a small tidal island. The lighthouse is one of the Stevenson lighthouses, built in 1857. It was automated in 1962, became privately owned and is now used as a holiday let.

I must admit that I have been in the doldrums these past few days of appalling Covid news and presidential incompetence. Will the cavalry ever come? But I am trying to keep on keeping on and the sight of my favorite Sentinel tree showing off its new spring leaves has lifted my spirits. This tree is a survivor of winter's worst.

You gotta admit, it's in a great location..;) I actually caught that Sea Gull in flight but I did add the clouds. What! That's what Photoshop is for isn't it.

Here's what the Internet says:

Corpus Christi is the ideal location for Landry's Seafood Restaurant– a Gulf Coast legend of its own. From Landry's picturesque location, an actual boat docked right on the waterfront, diners enjoy great indoor and outdoor views, fresh Gulf seafood, succulent steaks and the sweetest desserts. Seated right on Shoreline Boulevard, in the shadow of Downtown

I admit that I had planned another kind of photo of my chess pieces but it seems that my cat didn't like the setup. He jumped onto the chess board, chess pieces were flying all over the place and he was obviously very pleased with himself. I gave up and took a photo of the "slightly" modified scene. Cats always win ...

Posted for the Smile on Saturday theme "Tabletop Game Components".

I must admit that I have a bit of a problem well 2 actually 1) I cannot pass a book shop without going in and 2) I cannot go into a Garden centre and not come out without loads of plants.

I went in for Cat food (they have a pet centre) and came out with this lovely little Aquilegia oh and a "few" other plants.

Hopefully will be able to get new shots soon.

I admit I was bored, I needed to shake up - everybody was taking the same shot at this popular spot. After a few sets of bracket exposures, I started to play with my camera. This Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) ended up with a fun effect.

Have to admit, this is a bit of self-indulgence. Last week I had cataract surgery on my left eye. Tomorrow it's the right. I have had such fun with images like this -- covering the non-surgery eye, then covering the surgery eye. I would not have believed the difference. Makes me wonder though about folk out there with cataracts who view our images. I guess I could also wonder about folk with lousy monitors. Seriously. Aren't these great colors?

I will admit that lately I have been more off rather than on here on Flickr, but that's just because of traveling. And it will stay like this for the most part for the next 3 weeks or so. However I did find some time today to go through the pictures I have already taken and I wanted to post something that is very "Greek-summer-y": an island's port with many fishing and sail boats. Quite usual sight in Greece during summer. This is Aigina's port (barely over an hour away from Athens by ferry) and at the background you see Moni island. I hope you all are doing well. A visit to other people's streams to catch up is due and but it might take a little longer to happen. Take care!

Oh dear, I should learn when to stop and admit defeat. Forkfeat? Have I forkfeited my macro luck? This is the second to last image I took today. Not to mention the photos I've taken yesterday. Many photos. Too many photos. Of the same two forks. Sheesh! Forks aren't my friends, it seems. Well, but since I've spent so much time trying to come up with something, I can't skip MM, of course I can't ;)

Well, so what you see are two two-pronged serving forks, the smaller fork in focus, the bigger one as bokeh. I'd stuck them together with the prongs pointing into the opposite direction, fixated "head" down by a clasp, and reflected on a black tile. The plan had been to capture both intertwined forks and their reflections, and most of it in focus, and in that I succeeded, but I didn't like the carefully dusted (but still dusty) background. The dreaded macro dust didn't dissolve into nice bokeh this time, because some of it inevitably was in the same line of focus as the prongs' tips were – because to make the image work the way I'd invisioned it, I had to focus on the prongs' tips at the point where they "meet" their reflection. It looked quite nice, actually, but have I mentioned the dusty surface of the tile?

So the setup for this – final – image has been pretty much the same, except that this time I'd allowed more blur and got closer to the prongs' tips – which eliminated the dust. I do hope that the next theme will be an easier one, but knowing myself... ;)

Happy Macro Monday, Everyone, stay safe and healthy!

I admit that the title of the photo is confusing. I was on the last weekend on a horse jumping. I think horses are wonderful creatures. But I do not like equestrian sports. So I tried to find subjects that could be found on the edge of the event, but nevertheless have something to do with horses. If you look closely, recognizes with a little imagination in the two lenses horse and rider.

I admit that I didn't really have a good idea for this week's Happy Caturday theme "Brand" but luckily I can rely on Tofu. He proposed a photo with his Yeowww! catnip banana, one of his favourite toys and therefore an obvious choice for him. :) Happy Caturday !

I admit to being very clumsy and sadly I managed to break this stopper from an expensive crystal decanter. Needless to say, 'her indoors' was not amused.

Have a great Monday everyone. HMM

I admit that I saw the movie (coughs) and I will not deny that I didn't like it (coughs again)... and seeing the beautiful pose from Dan and Kimmie and hearing the song from "The Weekend - Earned it" I came up with this one here...

I named the foto after the pose so the pose is called "50shades darker" and im pasting the link where u can find it...

Have to admit the D700 struggles just a bit with dynamic range in a scene like this -- probably the reason multiple-exposure HDR became popular about 10 years ago, when this generation of cameras was state-of-the-art. No worries, it's still become my favorite camera to shoot with.

I hope all are having a great week.

I admit I'm guilty of generally thinking I need to shoot Blue/Golden hour and avoid strong light. Whilst I think that's generally true I do think we Togs should not ignore the possibility of getting some half decent shots on blue sky days. This may not be to everyone's taste but I had finished a sunrise shoot at Eilean Donan Castle (to come) and was heading to Glencoe and was traveling along the side of Loch Duich when I came across this scene and had to stop. The light was incredibly strong and hazy but to me it looked great and had to snap some shots. Luckily I found a parking place nearby and just walked back up the road and hopped over a safety barrier before wading into some gorse to grab my shots. I just liked the blue tones, layers of the mountains and the diagonal lines.

Ok I admit this is not my normal type of photo, but it was so funny. This is just east of Sisters, Oregon. I have driven past this "yard art" many times. This time we had to turn around, even though it was pouring rain, and go back and get a couple of shots. Who says Oregonians don't have a sense of humor? There are four more horses in front of these but we only had time to shoot this before traffic started coming.

I must admit I love photographing pears more than eating them. They have the most wonderfully curvy figures and they look good from any angle...in any light. Especially warm sunlight, which brings out the golden brown tones of these two kissing Beurré Bosc pears.

I have to admit this photograph is exactly why I took the camera out that Sunday afternoon. Two things really interest me in landscapes: Light and the weather. It's why I love J.M.W. Turner's (1775-1851) paintings so much. Although this is more Constable (1776-1837) than Turner. The father of the Australian landscape, John Glover (1767-1849), knew both Turner and Constable very well before late in life embarking on a new career in Van Diemen's Land. Glover lived on his farm "Patterdale" at Deddington, in the foothills of Ben Lomond. But he would roam far and wide around Launceston and I'd like to think he would have seen the Tamar Valley from a point close to this. He'd be amazed at the developments.

I must admit to not really having any idea about bird photography or any wildlife for that matter. How hard can it be? Whack the ISO up and a fast shutter speed....erm nope Adrian, there is substantially more to it than that!

Two things I'll remember for next time.

1. You don't need to lug every last bit of kit around with you.

2. Try to be upwind of the gannets. They stink!

Really enjoyable afternoon though wandering around the cliff tops seeing what works and what doesn't work. Huge learning curve. Definitely need to work on my panning and also identification.

I admit it ... I'm a sucker for following paths and trails in forests, just to see where they go. Even the smallest deer trail can sometimes to great views or lovely waterfalls. There is something about the next peak or curve that pushes me on, no matter how tired I am, to see what is over that rise or round that corner. Unfortunately, though, I sometimes forget to take into consideration how much time and energy it takes to get back :(

I must admit that I do find woodland photography pretty daunting. You walk through wonderful forests and there are shapely trees everywhere, but finding compositions is really difficult. Very different to landscape and seascape photography where the composition is pretty clear and foregrounds leap out at me!

I wandered around these woodlands near home most of the morning and enjoyed the walk, but I honestly struggled to see a shot. I came away with lots of images of trees and copses, but many of them seemed uninspiring and lacking any real sense of shape and interest. I must have binned more than 70% of the shots I took.

I was left with just a couple of images that looked alright and I played around with them and even added a bit of "orton effect" on them, but remained underwhelmed by the whole experience. I will have to work with the genre and try to educate my lazy woodland eye, or stick with landscapes.

…I must admit, orange is not my favorite color. But I live in New England and we get a lot of orange in the Fall. Most of the trees have lost their leaves to wind and rain, but I found this little oasis on an offbeat path. The geese were resting and the sun was warm. Probably my last orange image for the year…unless…

I admit I have never been sufficiently aware of my surroundings, but after I started to take photos and share them here on flickr a couple of years ago, this has changed somewhat. Whether I have my camera with me or not I nowadays often think in pictures and look for subjects or motifs around me. But I'm still a beginner in this context.

My partner recently installed this ball as a Christmas decoration in our flat. It is a crochet ball that is stiffened up like a globe and it is handcrafted by a lady who is over 90 years old. A small chain of led lights was placed inside it. My better half took a photo with her phone and I saw that her photo got a hint of blue, even though the ball is crocheted with white thread. I got my camera, dimmed the living room lighting and took 6 pictures with a 100mm lens and automatic WB. For each image I decreased the level of exposure and this led to a more and more deep blue color in the image. This picture was the last photo I took and it almost seems as if a blue globe is hovering above the smooth surface. If it hadn't been for my partner it would never have occurred to me to take this photo, I think, but I hope I still can get better at seeing the beauty that surrounds us.

I admit I love this kind of pose. Tidda doesn't hold still for long, though, so I had to throw myself into the sand and be very quick to get this shot.

Ok, I admit it. I loved the first Heaven. And then I changed windlight and then, Oh dear. I took more pictures and fell in love with this one! Now I don't know which I like. Let me know your choice of you can.

Continuing a slow swing through the seasons (I admit I'm stalling, in part, because it has been a slow winter - I was pretty sick for a couple weeks in January, and the rest has been a matter of crappy weather and lack of motivation).

This juvenile Swainson's Hawk allowed me to drive the rolling red Toyota blind right up to it, stop, focus, and get a dozen shots off. Since fence posts and power poles are the usual raptor perches here in the land of few trees, I was happy to find this one on a rock pile. The sagebrush behind it added a touch of blue-green that looked good against the background of midsummer prairie grasses beginning to change from green to brown.

Chocolate Donuts OK I admit it, I am addicted to them, so there now ya know! Found in North Carolina.

I must admit to a bit of a fixation over all things clock-related. Large grandfather clocks, petite watches, doesn't matter. This is an old pocket watch with its insides on display. How beautiful those mechanisms are! And how sad that we aren't using these gorgeous timepieces in our every day lives any longer.

Macro Mondays - "Back In The Day". HMM!

7 Days With Flickr - "Anything goes Mondays".

I must admit that this shot started in my head Friday morning as I watched the news and weather running the treadmill. They were showing the cold front would be passing Baltimore around 7pm on Saturday with thunderstorms. I have been wanting to capture some lightning over the river and piers for some time ... but just have not had it happen on a nice Saturday when I am not working all this past summer. Finally the odds were getting to be in my favor.

I watched the radar on early Saturday afternoon and saw how the cells were lining up along the cold front, and it looked like one would be passing by just to the very southern edge of Baltimore. Perfect alignment and track to get some lighting strikes in the right direction ... without being in the direct path of the storm. Here I was on the edge of the storm and it was just lightly raining on me.

Timing was perfect too with the lighting, just as blue hour was beginning after sunset.

As I have also been hit by lightning once (when I was 17), needless to say I was not going to set up the tripod out on the pier. I was close enough as it was!
