円月島に沈む夕陽は「日本の夕陽１００選」に選ばれており、陽の沈む夕景の美しさは格別で、夏は6時30分頃、冬は4時30分頃。

In my IT job, I can recall the first time someone suggested we buy a domain name. We simply did it cause it didn't cost much. Can't believe how omnipresent it is now.
I am so glad this item was on the scavenger hunt list, cause it turned out to be at a driveway for the Blue Heron and there were flowers everywhere. It was one of the most fun picture-taking stops ever. It did end badly though. I dropped my camera and broke the lens.

Before getting into the title, let me address the image. In addition to the Finchette on the left side of the feeder, we see here a couple of new additions, not necessarily to the yard but definitely to the camera. So, why not introduce them simultaneously in a sitting pose plainly showing the backside as well as a snazzy flight maneuver by, yes, some of you may have guessed, Pine Siskins. As you can see, they are a pretty colored bird with beaks that are more slender than that of a Finch. We used to have a couple of green ones coming around but no such luck this year yet. One more reason we are looking at this flight shot is that I have encountered some criticism regarding my yard management techniques. I want to make it clear that Levitation is not the only thing happening here, although and perhaps because of my dislike for rules (in spite of my German upbringing – nothing is Verboten here) Levitation is practiced a lot.
The reason I am bringing up the “Counting Flowers on the Wall and Inner Peace” in the title is that I simply neglected to mention a couple of things in my previous exposé on Inner Peace. Not only do I do a lot of bird watching (as you may have realized by now), there are other things such as counting ducks that I previously mentioned. Playing solitaire and watching TV have actually taking a back seat to my taking pictures. Smoking cigarettes is still high on the list. Some of you, however, posted such marvelous flower shots with such vivid colors that I now find myself Counting Flowers On The Wall. These, of course, only exist in my mind but are not any less vivid than the real thing.

I was feeling snidey for not making anything for the International Light Painting Award 2015. So I went up in the loft and made this, as not only did Herr Wollert go to the bother of organising the award, he'd cunningly set the deadline for entries as his birthday. Two emergency ambulance attendants from the Gross Mortuary, 1017 Central Avenue, Hot Springs, Arkansas, hurry a critically injured man into an awaiting 1966 white Pontiac Consort ambulance in Hot Springs in 1967.
In the days before paramedics, backboards, and splinting, the goal of good ambulance service back then was hurry to the scene and quickly "load and go."
Even at that, Gross Mortuary operated an excellent 24 / 7 ambulance service, giving prompt, careful care to thousands of Hot Springs residents from 1909 to July 31, 1974 when it ended its ambulance service.
This accident occurred on East Grand Avenue in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The injured man's young son later died in nearby Quachita Hospital (now closed). This compelling action (copyrighted) picture was taken by Bill (Bunny) Dever of Hot Springs, a skilled commercial police photographer and a good friend of mine for many years. His great pictures give a glympse of funeral home-operated ambulance services in the 1960s - 1970s.
The ambulance pictured above was a Pontiac Consort ambulance made by Superior. A Consort ambulance had no dividing wall between and driver and the rear patient area. The ambulance was actually designed to hold three patients on stretchers! Two stretchers (one a wheeled stretcher and the other a folding cot) could fit easily side by side on the ambulance floor, and a third folding stretcher could be suspended from the ceiling.
It had a (very loud) Federal Q2 siren, four alternating red bullet lights on the four roof corners, and a giant red beaconray in the center of the roof.
This ambulance, known as "Gross 6," served Hot Springs faithfully from 1966 to 1970 when it was replaced by a bright yellow Superior Van ambulance. Gross Mortuary ended ambulance service July 31, 1974.
Note that the two attendants are lifting the stretcher into the ambulance -- now days, paramedics use so-called one-man stretchers which fold up into the ambulance without having to be lifted, sissies.
