Taking 4 charcoal ovens to Kitui for the ICRISAT and African Harvest Value Addition for Smallholder Sorghum Farmers program.
We held a wonderful baking competetion led and judged by the good folks from amaribakery.wordpress.com/ and the team from Kitui central won with thier excellent sorghum banana bread.
The most eye-catching new addition to The Royal Landscape in recent years is the Savill Building, opened in June 2006, with its undulating roof, shaped like a leaf, merging with the tall trees surrounding it.
The design by Glenn Howells Architects uses a gridshell construction, a landmark feat of contemporary engineering, inspired by the strength and beauty of a seashell. Using sustainable timber from the Crown Estate forests – larch and oak for the roof and floor – the building was constructed as a single cell space over-sailed with a gridshell roof. From inside the vast cathedral-like central space the visitor can see the awesome, apparently self-supporting, green-wood roof, drawing the eye upwards and out towards the gardens through a glazed wall.
Meet the Newest Addition to our "Family"
Earlier this summer our daughter, Dorothy, was forced to have her long-time, constant companion, Mojo, euthanized. He was almost 15 years old and it hurt all of us to lose him.
This past Saturday, she adopted a Scottie puppy, 12 weeks old, and these are her first pictures!
The larger Scottie in the picture is "Daddy's Dixie Darling" (Dixie) for short, and she is the "resident" Scottie in the family - about six years old - and belongs to Chad.

No one knows the exact species it was crossed with to produce color variations of white, cream, peach, magenta and nearly red hues. Originally built as the Operating Pavilion in 1909, there were many subsequent additions that turned the wing into a ramble of rooms, centering around a large, glass-roofed operating space. The last surgery occurred in the space in 1953, when the larger Bryan Center was built, which housed several levels of operating spaces. The space was then used as storage for medical supplies before being renovated as home to the school's art department in the 1980s.
we adopted Charlie (left) and Diego (right) from the Rhode Island SPCA to keep our Chappu company since Wakka passed away. so far, we have Charlie & Diego in a separate cage right next to Chappu's, so they can sniff and warble at each other through the bars while they get used to each other's scents. right now Chappu isn't too friendly toward the new guys, but hopefully he warms up soon.
anyhow, the new goos are adoooooorable. Charlie is only two months old, and you can see he's still got some growing to do!

Our newest addition, a custom created by Alisha Lars. I lusted after her after discovering her on Alisha's page, and then was lucky enough to purchase her from her old owner! I love her hair! Sadly, she's already off to be repaired by Amy (rollerderbysinner). Her sleep eye mechanism broke and jammed her eyes. Now she's suffering from narcolepsy! :( We'll miss you!
This is a new addition to our family seder this year: The Iceberg Wedge. I know iceberg lettuce isn't fancy or anything, but my we love it, and when we're down in Palm Desert we go crazy for Iceberg Wedge salads with delicious tomatoes, onions and blue cheese dressing. Several workshops and exposure trips have been conducted to encourage the push toward organic agriculture practices. As part of this programme organic soil additions are introduced as a substitute for chemical based pesticides and fertilizer. Currently the types of soil additions utilized at the NEEC School, Field and Forest are Panchekarvia, Effective Micro-organisms, Vermi-compost, Amrit Pani and Nursery Soil.
