Il n’est pas toujours facile de dire "non". On a peur de décevoir, peur de ne pas correspondre à ce que les autres attendent de nous. Alors parfois on peut se sentir obligé de fumer, juste pour ne pas passer pour un nul, même si on n’en a pas envie.
Nous sommes tous sensibles à l’image que nous donnons de nous-mêmes aux autres. Nous souhaitons que cette image soit la plus positive possible.....
De nombreux fumeurs adolescents sont à l’étape de la pré-réflexion : ils se croient immortels et capables de renoncer n’importe quand.

at the end, we come to the point: if something is highly beneficial but you're still dependent upon it, is it fair to call it an addiction?
for years now i've lived all my waking hours online in some form or another. at the bare minimum of remote connectivity, i've been getting email on my phone for at least five years. i can't pinpoint exactly when i lost that last shred of unconnected time, which says to me that i don't miss it.
with the exception of bryan who i see at work, all my friends are virtual. still, i talk to them every day in various ways, and it doesn't make them any less friends. people from the TV Generation often find this strange, but i'd ask them how frequently they get together with their physically distant friends, and is quailty or quantity more important when it comes to staying in touch?
so... i spend a lot of time online. it doesn't keep me from doing any other important thing. it doesn't encourage passivity like the same amount of time spent in front of a TV would; just the opposite - it fosters engagement with and control of one's information intake. it's not a waste of time, and it's necessary to modern life. going back to a pre-internet time now would be like going back to a time before the printing press. it is a dependency, but not an addiction.
Everyone have addiction to something!

...my mom came to visit recently and she wanted to get him a special treat that She would give him (you know, buying his love and all that). so we picked something out that he had never had before.
now he's out of control. he behaved himself when she was here but as soon as it was Me giving them to him, he started punching out and trying to grab the bag!

This was my 27th time to have climbed Ben A'an in The Trossachs, Scotland, but only the 3rd time to have climbed it for sunset. What can I say - I'm addicted to this mountain. Ben A'an is known as the 'miniature mountain', due to its abrupt difference in topography (height). A lot of people start the climb of Ben A'an and simply give up after a short while. It's a 60% gradient in places. But if you stick with it the views from the top are some of the best in Scotland.

Today Steve and I went down to our local Coalcliff rock shelf, there was quite a lot of sea spray in the air so had to deal with that together with a surprising amount of flies which for some reason liked landing and chilling on my front filter. Overall I am happy with the shot, Steve isn't such a bad model after all :)

you know you're addicted to flickr when:
1. you see an interesting portrait on a billboard and immediately search for the exif data.
2. you click on your text in other websites and expect it to automatically change to edit mode.
3. you search for crayons with colors from the flickr logo.
...what are your symptoms...?
