I had to do a narrative for my photo class and I decided to show an addiction to technology.

The prospect of getting rid of addiction seems to be impossible for anyone whose life has been implicated by constant drug use. The costs of an addiction recovery program are so high that most people think it is way beyond their means.

The fashion serie is really about human addiction. How love between 2 people can becomse so dangerous and strong that it will eventually work as a drug for one or the other. It's about manipulation, supremacy, and love.. dangerous love.

Miss NY & OASAS Kick-Off Prevention Campaign -- On May 8, OASAS announced a new Prevention Campaign in collaboration with Miss New York 2013, Amanda Mason. The campaign, Reaching Kids before Alcohol and Drugs Do, is a comprehensive anti-drug and alcohol campaign targeting middle school students and their families. The campaign kick-off was held at Middle School I.S. 077 in Queens, NY. The campaign focuses on helping kids identify and understand the dangers of prescription, over-the-counter, and illegal drugs and alcohol and how they affect the body, and offers tips for talking to parents and other adults. “The best solution to ending this drug epidemic is by preventing drug abuse in the first place,” said Arlene González-Sánchez. “That’s why OASAS and its more than 180 prevention providers across New York State are pleased to support Miss New York in her campaign.”

I think I might be addicted to Flickr-I'm on it more than Facebook D:

I have lots of things to say!

Firstly, I went to the doctor this morning and I have strep throat. -_- It hurts so bad, I can't swallow and sometimes it's really hard to breathe, my throat closes up so bad. :c But I got some medicine, and I've started on it, and it's supposed to make me better in 48 hours or somethin'. I hope it works faster than that, BECAUSEEE...I have a job interview tomorrow! A kid who's lived up the street from me my entire life recommended me to this marketing company he works for, and they called me, and I have an interview tomorrow. :D I'm really really excited about it, they pay like 20 dollars an hour or something. If I get this job, and I also work at the water park I worked at last summer, by the end of the summer I should have enough money for a new camera. :DDDDDD THIS IS SO UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME. I'm so excited!

I just wish I could breathe...

This was also taken in Italy, an old guy who lived near me cooked lunch for me on this little fire pit thingy. c: I had a photo shoot with Rachel on Saturday, but I left my camera at her house, and I have not yet gotten it back...I have so much organizing to do with all my photos, it's insane. I need to just sit down and get everything in order on this computer, but I'm always up and about doing something, and now I'm sick :l I will try to do it really really soon, probably tomorrow before my interview. Fingers crossed!

Today is my brother's birthday-he's 21! I made him a cake, but something went wrong with the frosting...I hope it turns out okay :(

Campaigners is tonight, I am so excited<3 It's my first campaigners in nine months, I can't even describe how excited I am to get back into the Bible again the way I used to. c: So much awesome stuff happening all at once! :D

I like how this almost looks like film.

Press L, it looks so much cooler.

{8} I've been thinking about a 365. I'm nowhere near experienced enough to start one, but I already take photos every day, and I usually edit the same day, even though I don't upload. It would make sense...I dunno. Thinking about it.

Koreans are addicted to their cellphones, more so then back in the USA. It's pretty much guaranteed that every Korean from 8 to 88 owns a cell phone...

Today I have broken my addiction to "Awards Groups". As with all addictions they aren't without their pleasure, and I have definitely enjoyed viewing work that I would have otherwise not seen. However as with many addictions it's not all good times. I have had enough of my work being littered meaningless arrays of glitter and gold and all things sparkly. Many thanks to those who have taken time to actually comment on my photos and I look forward to spending time wondering through some flippen cool photostreams.

And now to borrow a line from devilineden

Addiction, ou dépendance est, au sens phénoménologique, une conduite qui repose sur une envie répétée et irrépressible, en dépit de la motivation et des efforts du sujet pour s'y soustraire.

Today, I attended an excellent one-day Photography Course put on for the Friends of Fish Creek Provincial Park (FFCPP). Part of the course in the afternoon was to spend about two and a half hours wandering around the area near the Visitor's Centre and the Ranch. We were to take photos, keeping in mind some of the things we had learned in the morning. These are five of the photos I took and I will upload a few more next time.

The world's going this way pretty quickly. For an assessment.

Addiction in all forms has become a major problem not only in America but worldwide.

You know the obvious ones — drugs, alcohol, cigarettes. The National Institute on Drug abuse notes that there has been a 120% increase in the past 7 years, costing the American taxpayer in excess of $700 billion. These are staggering numbers. Read more at: hghplus.net/addiction-treatment/

Sometimes the things keeping us alive are also the things that kill us inside.

Saying that too many people are not finding their way into treatment soon enough, Public Health Director Dr. Karyl Rattay told the almost 200 attending the Aug. 29 Addiction Medicine Symposium at the Ammon Center that DHSS will create a person-centered public treatment system with centers of excellence that not only customize treatment to each person’s needs, but also provides for their mental health and social service needs. “Our vision is really bring it all together,” she said.

Joining Dr. Rattay in providing opening remarks at the daylong event were Christiana Care CEO Dr. Janice Nevin; Dr. Terry Norton, the symposium organizer and chief of addiction medicine at Christiana Care; and Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long. Dr. Nevin said every person admitted to a Christiana Care facility is screened for addiction, and Lt. Gov. Hall-Long said Delaware is being looked at as the model for change. The fifth annual symposium was sponsored by Christiana Care and Central East ATTC, a program of The Danya Institute.

Dr. Rebecca Walker, chief operating officer of the Division of Forensic Science, and Lt. James T. Hulings of the Delaware State Police and deputy director of the Delaware Information and Analysis Center (DIAC), provided an analysis of the opiate crisis in Delaware and statewide data-sharing. Walker detailed the polysubstance use of the 308 people who died from overdoses in Delaware in 2016, and Hulings said crack cocaine is coming back, with a 89% increase in cases involving the drug over the last five years in Delaware. “We’re probably not going to see the death we see with heroin, but we are going to see the addiction,” he said. Law enforcement officials also are worried that labs that can produce fentanyl, the synthetic drug that is up to 50 times more potent than heroin, will start appearing in the U.S. Up until now, most of the fentanyl in the United States has been produced in labs in China or elsewhere.

Other speakers detailed the effects of trauma on people who suffer from addiction, the landscape of the opioid crisis in the U.S. and took part in a panel discussion of the opportunities and challenges in Delaware.

50mm Luv!

Very snapshot-ish I know, but I've been thinking about some things I need to change in 2011 and my sugar intake is one of them. I've tried the artificial sweetners and it's a no-go! Real Sugar is my addiction.... and it's time for change.

I'm loving my new promo mug! It was cold out--very cold and today was the first day I used my mug. Merry Christmas FlickrITES!
