For Our Daily Challenge: Addiction

I am not a coffee drinker, but I DO like my tea. This is chamomille and I had it when meeting my French language study-buddy this morning in a cafe.

The tea I could drink day and night if I let myself is Good Earth Original Spice. If tea were a dessert... I also like Tibetan Baicao tea from China but it's about $6 - 8 a cup.... I have to be careful with that tea however as it gives me a speedy energy and I cannot fall asleep at night...

fleur de sel cupcake from Kara's Cupcakes. Soooo good :)

Which developed into an addiction. Apparently only 1 in 3 people can curl their tongue like that, but who knows how common it is among cats?

A typical Kansas pumpjack. Kirsten, Hayley, and I took the new car on a drive out of town looking for things to photograph and just wanting to be together. It was a nice time.

a tension and contrast exists - a bottle of water and a tobacco addiction - wonder which will rule.

It can shatter relationships, tear families apart, ruin children, turn parents into shells, and can cause death in some cases...

Be careful what you let yourself fall into... the things you do matter to more than just you.

Little Gamusina & Erica Duh for the win today!

I saw someone do a cardboard sign for a picture for the project. And I couldn't resist the pun of me always being hungry and my FLICKR addiction all into one picture. This picture could have been a lot better if I was on a real street corner instead of my sidewalk, so I bet I'll redo this when summer time comes around.

Looks like I may be addicted to buying Sigma glass. As addictions go, it is quite expensive.

Meth is a terrible drug, it eats you like a virus.

Loving somebody with a drug addiction might be just as confusing and frustrating as being a drug addict yourself. Today was one of those confusing and frustrating days.

My brother, John, is in a bad bad way. His drug addiction makes him a liar, a thief, and a completely paranoid asshole. I try not to get involved. I try to stay neutral. He's burned every bridge he's got, and sometimes comes to me when he needs help. It's hard to say no to him because I still see him as my little brother.

Today I found myself caught up in the drama. There I was, sitting in the truck in the middle of crack town while my brother tried to negotiate to get back the washer, dryer, and stove he had sold to a dealer. I had to drop him around the corner and go sit in a cemetary until the negotiations were done.

A cemetary. How fitting.

It used to be something I hid. Something I'd never talk about. But as we get closer to an election, I just get mad that one of the biggest problems in our country is not even on the agenda. Our prisons are filled with drug addicts, drug dealers, and drug cooks. Our cities are filled with them, too. Our neighborhoods look clean from the outside, but don't look too closely, you might find an addict next door. You might even find one living in your own house or in your family.

We're fighting a war against terrorism, while the war against drugs is kicking our ass.

a statement about American society today.

The latest addition to my collection: Invicta R8 (Russian Diver + Sea Spider hybrid). Carbon fiber dial. Certainly the most pedestrian of all my timepieces thus far, but it fills a need. Nothing fancy, very utility. Polyurethane bracelet. Gunmetal Stainless Steel Case displays a fixed coin-edge bezel. Numbered, limited edition. 52mm case.
