after-rain .. shot from last weekend...
Thought this would make an interesting shot of the Milky Way but soon had second thoughts after parking my truck on the medial strip.
Wind was blowing from my left to right. The sugar company was planting a new crop of sugar cane and kicking up a ton of dust. Soon realized that dust and headlights are not a good combination.
Took only three exposures and told myself this is crazy. Quickly jumped back into my truck and found a safer place.
Single exposure taken in the middle of the Haleakala Highway as the Milky Way rises above Mt. Haleakala.

Cheating, The Fix is in
Cheating in horse racing is as old as the game itself. It is a much more complicated issue than it appears. Although it occurs in horse racing, when you think about it, it really shouldn’t tarnish the sport more than it does any other sport, and various other money on the line endeavours. Let us not think for one minute cheating is restricted to horse racing and does not permeate its way into other sports and businesses. When money is involved cheating will creep in at some point. It always has, and probably always will.

Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D7200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.

I know a few of you had to do a double take when you saw this photo with my name under it :-) Well get ready, because you're about to get a whole new taste of the RE. No HDR??? Single exposures??? Macro??? If you look outside you might even see pigs flying.
First of all thanks to RKHawaii for telling me about a photo store that rents lenses for $10 a day. I went and rented me a 60mm nikkor micro lens over the weekend and went on a macro shooting spree... and now I'm addicted. So the next lens on my list is definitely going to be a macro. I want the 105mm macro but am not ready to spend $900 smackers on a lens yet.
Secondly thanks to Aileenie "The queen of macro bokeh shots" :-) for inspiring me to start doing some close up shots with lots of blur.
2 exposure with very minimal blending involved. It's pretty much just one exposure calibrated thru ACR. Curves, saturation, a bit of color adjustments, and an unsharp mask on just the dew drops that are in focus.
Please offer any criticism or critiques about these as I have much to learn in the world of macro. I shot for 2 days and only ended up with a handful of photos that I really like.
