☽●☾ {Why Not?} Tarvie Dining Table & Chair Set has a slight retro feel to it, but due to the wood texture, it could also fit into a cottage or a bit of a rustic home. It has propped animated chairs with animations for both male and female. Completed in 1931, the Pittsburgh & West Virginia’s mainline to Connellsville became the final link in creating the famed “Alphabet Route”, which was designed to attract through-traffic off of the big time railroad empires of the century. After the fall of Robert Gould’s empire, the plan to expand had faded off. Years later, under new receivership was the mainline revitalized.
There was nothing wasted when it came to designing and laying this route, bulldozing through every hill and filling every land gap with these enormous steel viaducts. Having seen so many photos growing up and shooting it dozens of times, this line remains to be a favorite in my books, and in my opinion, one of the most photogenic lines on the East coast.
In this picture, Wheeling’s 618 job stretches their consist over Mingo Creek, probably the most iconic location on the entire route.
Interestingly enough, in April of 2025, this exact scenario had occurred. The 6348, 6354, and engines for SWP led this same job, in similar conditions, almost a year ago. Though I was not present for the April run, it’s an odd feeling to see this scene repeated almost verbatim, in a time where uncertainty rests upon this railroad. These coke trains really do have a special spot in my heart, and so the addiction to shooting them continues.

A storm watchers dream could have been a bolt of lightning but I'll take a heron any day! I had actually visited two marinas this day in hopes to find one after some flickr inspiration. Herons have always been a favorite of mine. I love their statue like demeanor, being able to stay as still as a ninja. So naturally when I saw this one I scattered around looking at all possible comps to really make him stand out. It was dark by this time after all. I played around with the lower tide but didn't like the darkness of my subject. My last move was to line him up with one of the lights in hopes to illuminate his silhouette. But then I noticed his shadow casted out..... (whispers "yessssss")
You will see this little parasol again - and his friends. OK - so depends on the sun being out but ever the optimist :-)

When i woke up this morning i had no idea i would witness the sun romancing the frost through my bedroom window. It was pure delight but ...like the first dance of new love... I wish the feeling lasted forever. Nature colliding together...what a gift!
