When you can see something like this, -15ºC isn't a problem.

Nearly ten years old picture of my son tattoo his brother like old fashioned way, it takes a lot of time and patience. And they've been doing it ever since.
Brown Rock Chats once occurred only as far west as the Lahore region of Pakistan but the population has expanded considerably and by 2014 the species was established as far west as the Peshawar region.
It has been recorded as far North West as the Lower Swat region and as far south west as the Dera Ismail Khan region. It probably breeds in Afghanistan now.
What has caused this range expansion? Probably the constant construction going on within Pakistan as the human population expands. They seem to nest in cavities and have many broods. The population is expanding in Sindh but at a much slower pace.
They seem to love old buildings, historic buildings and sites as well as rocky cliffs. A very similar niche to the European Black Redstart.
I feel one day this bird could even each Western Europe. One to watch!
Today I was spoiled for choice. Decided to select this one for Peggy because we were talking about shelling peanuts before. This guy is quite adept at doing this which means, no work for me. Yes, I know you are envious Peggy :-)
I posted him despite the fact that he did not pass the "crisp" test, because this was the only one that showed the tongue action indicating his love for peanuts. And yes, perhaps he would prefer to eat the squirrel instead but those are off limits in this area.
And no guys, this is not a trapping shot. These peanuts are really meant for the squirrels and Blue Jays.
I was really happy I managed to get a decent enough photo of this winter visitor to Pakistan. They can be flighty and shy even though they visit primarily the Northern plains in their thousands. Their call always reminds of of a winter's day in Pakistan. There are a number of Rookeries around where I live in Rossendale.
