The kids enjoyed a trip to the Kettering skate park one Sunday but not before a quick session of worship.
[#2] After I painted Bob Marley, I quickly became addicted and eagerly awaited a free moment in time to paint again. A week after, I painted Tyson delivering a destructive blow to an insignificant opponent. I've always loved the icon that is Mike Tyson. The voice. The quotes. The drama. The fights. Everything was on an epic level. If you have forgotten how much of an unstoppable force he was, please find some clips to be reminded.

"The automatic writing project started out as an activity among friends and locals. I would write a line someone else would write a line and so on... Then people would overhear us and ask if they could participate and write something too (which surprised me) of course I said "yes!" At that point I realized that lots of people have something to say. I started asking strangers to add entries, then I graduated to offering people $1.00 to participate, some people do not accept the dollar and some pay me a $1.00 (paying it forward). It's becoming quite a lovely, surprising and compelling project. People from many walks of life are participating: homeless, a news reporter, academics, doctors, drug addicts, lawyers, tourists etc... People have written things in my journal that they'd never say out loud, not to anyone. Some of it's so sad, some intriguing, hilarious and so on... At the end of the day, every one of these people understand that their entries are being uploaded to the internet and are comforted in knowing that they will be heard. I have no idea where this is going, but it's going just fine! FYI: English is not everyone's first language here. I will be illustrating the book/journal after the text is done. I hope that everyone who reads these entries learns something about people, mostly that we never know what someone else is going through.

I'm a read-o-holic. Seriously. Currently, the Speedliter's Handbook is my drug of choice for photography. I'm working to perfect my lighting skills and using Speedlites and Alien Bees and absolutely loving it. Still, my favorite lighting set-up is one light and a reflector. Have a great weekend!

Non ricordo molto delle circostanze che mi hanno condotto in questo luogo a scattare questa foto. So di averla scattata il 7 ottobre 2010, ma solo perché me lo dicono i dati exif. L'unica cosa di cui posso essere certo è che l'ho scattata nel corso di una delle mie abituali spedizioni crepuscolari. Stamattina mi sono detto: "vediamo un po' su quale foto posso lavorare oggi", e scorrendo il mio ormai discreto archivio fotografico, mi sono imbattuto in questo scatto. "Bello!", mi sono detto, così ho cominciato a lavorarci su. Questo è il risultato.

I colori dell'autunno sono fantastici, ma sull'Etna lo sono di più. Domenica 6 novembre, approfittando della prima bella giornata dopo più di tre settimane di cattivo tempo, sono salito sull'Etna per una passeggiata pomeridiana. Ovviamente avevo con me la fida Canon, e altrettanto ovviamente sapevo bene dove trovarmi al tramonto. Con il bello o cattivo tempo, chiuso in casa o all'aperto, ormai so perfettamente in che momento tramonta il sole. Come i vampiri, lo sento nelle ossa. Non un vampiro tipo twilight, per carità, piuttosto un vampiro tipo Brad Pitt in "intervista col vampiro". In fondo gli somiglio pure. Nota di colore: attendendo il momento giusto per scattare la foto, ho rischiato l'assideramento. La foto è stata scattata a 1330 metri s.l.m. mentre io ero uscito da casa abbigliato come se avessi dovuto scendere in centro. La testa mi si è congelata al punto che ho preso a rovistare nel bagagliaio della macchina alla disperata ricerca di un copricapo. Trovo un vecchio cappello di mia moglie e lo indosso. Le chiedo: "come sto?" e lei prende a scassarsi dalle risate, al che capisco che per salvaguardare la mia dignità è meglio toglierlo.
