Happy First Birthday, Ada ! Each of my grandchildren have received a small quilt on their first birthday and these quilts are focused on their names. Orion's was easy: celestial! Iris's was just as straightforward: floral! Ada's name presented somewhat of a challenge, but I tried to use computer-related prints (for the Ada Lovelace tie-in) and the color of prints that I could find determined that choice. So, here it is: ADA ! The quilt measures 43" X 45" and is machine-pieced and hand-quilted and is backed with fleece. I defined the letters with some sashiko quilting, an experiment.
Today is Ada Lovelace Day celebrating woman in Science.
