De Pijp is Amsterdam’s original multi-cultural spot – buzzing with activity at all times of day and especially gorgeous and fun by night. It’s the place where the locals go to the market in the daytime, and the hipsters go out in the evening. Away from the city center and steeped in culture, our intimate neighborhood’s amazing history means you’ll learn all about its beginnings (it was once underwater!) through to its present-day reputation as one of the city’s coolest areas in which to live and work. Spend an evening meandering the streets, satisfying your curiosity and escaping the guide books destinations. Our local guides love to tell you their own Amsterdam stories, enhancing your experience while you eat, drink and walk along our canals with friends. Take a break from being a tourist and enjoy the real Amsterdam with us.

Our Twilight Food Tour is all about getting to know the neighborhood (and its local people) through food. Because of its multi-cultural influences, you’ll get a taste of everything from Indonesian rijsttafel to French patisserie. What could be a better night out than wining and dining your way through Amsterdam’s hippest neighborhood?

The Activity was a 30ft fishing boat, usually crewed by four. Originally powered by sails, an auxilliary motor was installed in 1925. She was mainly used in fishing for shrimps, cockles and mussels.
The Activity was built by Mr C Hornigold for his brother-in-law William James Chase, and was launched in December 1904.
The Activity continued to fish into the 1980s when she was given to the True's Yard Museum.

One of the highlights of the first day of the Scouting Camporee is learning how to build a fire and cook their own food outdoors. After pitching their tents to prepare for evening, the SFAMSC Scouts with the guidance of their Scout masters and the cooperation of the whole patrol pitch in to build a fire and cook their own dinner - the most fundamental skill in camping.
