Neil Pedersen (Executive Director of the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine) and Evangelos Bekiaris (President of the European Conference of Transport Research Institutes) formally signing the European Conference of Transport Research Institutes and Transportation Research Board memorandum of understanding (ECTRI-TRB MoU) and action plan at the Pre-Summit Research Day held on 17 May in Leipzig, Germany, in conjunction with the International Transport Forum’s 2022 Annual Summit.
I went past the remains of the Aston Tavern again, and took an updated shot of it. Pretty much the same condition as last time.
This time, I continued under the Expressway, and headed around an industrial area to the left.
Old stop signs near the Aston Tavern. The land here really needs to be developed.
Looks like a pre-worboys sign to me.

I received a phone call yesterday, requesting me to provide a résumé for the position I'm wanting in Atlanta. It sounds like several people at work are interested in the positions in Overland Park and Atlanta. Not surprising, really. I think you'd have to be nuts to prefer to get laid off in this economy, when your employer is offering you the opportunity to stay with the company.
Polishing up my résumé last night reminded me of just how much I *hate* having to look for a job. So, since I *am* debt-free, I drew up a plan. An escape plan. It will apply whether I get the job in Atlanta or not. It's purpose is to provide me with an action plan to get my ass out of telecom—permanently. I see it as absolutely do-able, too. Being debt-free, for me, is the key. I can now, if I have to (or if I want to), take a job doing just about anything, as long as I can make enough to meet the few expenses that I do have.
The furthest north I went in Aston, I found this old pub in the shadow of the mighty Aston Expressway boarded up and in a bad state.
It is the Aston Tavern.
What happened? How did it get into this state, and will it ever be restored like The Holte was?
Maybe Aston Villa's new owners can get this one restored too.
Another thing, the Aston Expressway being built right next to it must have killed it off what with the noise of the traffic.
It is on a site that may get developed as part of an Action Plan for Aston, Newtown and Lozells.
It may get demolished, but it might not depending on it being with a Conservation Area.
I would prefer to see it getting restored rather than demolished.
New Year's resolutions are made and often broken, so this time I decided to not make a resolution and instead make an action plan. And this is my 4 step action plan for getting sexy in 2009.
Mind you, I do realize that being sexy is 80% mental - it stems from how you feel and how that resonates in how you speak, walk, and interact with people. However, there is something to say about the visual sexy...and that's what I intend on doing this year! It's my challenge to myself...not to just look cute ('cause I definitely think I've got that girl next door kind of look)...I intend on 'getting sexy'!
At the launch of the Action Plan on 29 June 2010 at Molonglo Reach beside Lake Burley Griffin, students from Ainslie Primary School learn about water bugs with Molonglo Waterwatch Coordinator, Stephen Skinner.
PLAN ACTION: Bill Rawiri, Nga Hau e Wha o Papararangi chairperson, talks about future 'emergency preparedness' initiatives with the disaster action plan.

Balloch Primary created a 1.5m high tree on their Eco-Schools notice board. They wrote every action they had planned onto a leaf, placed the leaves at the bottom of the tree. As they carried out each action, they moved the leaf to the top of the tree. This was a very visual, easy to understand way for pupils, especially younger ones, to be able to see how much progress was being made towards their Eco-Schools targets. Also, it is bright, fun & engaging, much more so than the usual tabular action plan, so much more likely to make pupils feel engaged & included in the process

Problems are really just squiggly lines that show up when we're expecting straight ones. Find the straight lines to find your next steps.
One Squiggly Line is a visual thinking business that uses pictures to make things simple so people can understand, decide, and move to action more quickly.

On the day that distribution of the Canadian penny by the Bank of Canada to banks and others stopped, marking a final day for the one-cent coin, I spied this 8 1/2x11 poster on the window of the Sobeys grocery store at 503 Bloor Street West.
The Government of Canada is phasing out the penny. Starting February 4, 2013, pennies will no longer be distributed to our stores. Pennies are still legal tender and will continue to be accepted for cash payments.
For cash payments where changes is owed, your change will be rounded to the nearest five-cent increment, using the following Government of Canada rounding guidlines:
ROUND DOWN
$1.01 or $1.02 $1.00
$1.06 or $1.07 $1.05
ROUND UP
$1.03 or $1.04 $1.05
$1.08 or $1.09 $1.10
This rounding approach may not be adopted by third party service providers operating within our store environment. Please check with those providers for their policies related to the elimination of the penny.
Electronic transactions such as debit and credit cards don't need to be rounded, and will not be impacted.

I created this comic for the Storyboard for Learning Design OOC.
It is my own work, and I release it to the public domain. (Images within the comic also belong to the public domain)
