"Through the waters of beauty and grace. We will one day dock at the same port, and give rest to our weary heads" (The Umbrellas: Ships)

(This is one of my all time favourite songs, and immediately thought of it upon painting)

Snow Day Today. The whole country pretty much stopped and had a big hissy fit because noone could get anywhere or do anything (IN LONDON). I had a reading day so it didn't much matter to me. I'm in tomorrow though. I also have plans for after University so I hope the weather isn't too bad. I'll be taking my camera, maybe you will see what I got up to. Oh the mystery. The weather was good for Rosie, who has Aaron visiting her from NC, I was happy for her having a short day so they could be together :]

utdesertduo commented on my wallpaper. It's textured, and painted white so it's pretty good for light painting upon. This is an oldie but goodie. I keep procrastinating, saying I'll paint new shapes or get new material to post up here.. I'm totally aware I need to do this, I need a plan of action, and to get my ass into gear.

I'm glad I have three comments within five minutes of posting.

Thanks go to snowbuddy_, utdesertduo and of course, DavidStGr

P.S: I'm still hanging on in Explore.

HIGH-RISK SERIES: Substantial Efforts Needed to Achieve Greater Progress on High-Risk Areas

The furthest north I went in Aston, I found this old pub in the shadow of the mighty Aston Expressway boarded up and in a bad state.

It is the Aston Tavern.

What happened? How did it get into this state, and will it ever be restored like The Holte was?

Maybe Aston Villa's new owners can get this one restored too.

Another thing, the Aston Expressway being built right next to it must have killed it off what with the noise of the traffic.

It is on a site that may get developed as part of an Action Plan for Aston, Newtown and Lozells.

It may get demolished, but it might not depending on it being with a Conservation Area.

I would prefer to see it getting restored rather than demolished.

But on the bright side, we've generated $3,416,380 for Equifax!

Background math:

$5.85 x 583,000 people = $3,416,380.00

"Yes, Ms. Forsythe. You are one of the 583,000"

crap.

Recommended actions given by the HRDC 1-800 customer service rep were to contact Equifax and alert them that my personal information (name, social insurance number, address, loan amount) has been lost.

Upon calling Equifax, after getting extensive telemarketing promotional jibber jabber the service rep indicated that the least expensive option to flag your account is $5.85. There are monthly 'identity alert' options that range up to $19.95 PER MONTH.

Yes, you can get a FREE credit report, if you MAIL or FAX a form in with your name, social insurance number along with a photocopy of two pieces of ID (seems highly secure, right?)

I am notoriously frugal and I have tried this option to get my credit report, but they REJECTED my file because they felt my driver's licence ID photocopy was not CLEAR enough. I ended up just paying the $14.95 online.

But that's not really the point, a credit report/score only gives you a snapshot AT THAT MOMENT. It will indicate if there has been nefarious activity, but ONLY AFTER it has happened, which IMO is too late. So you only get ONE free report per year, and I've yet to successfully navigate this free option, and more importantly, a report does not add one iota of extra security.

Needless to say, I paid the six bucks. What this provides, from what the service rep indicates is that whenever anyone, including me, applies for any credit, it will require an additional level of security, which means they will have to phone me to confirm I requested said application. After I paid and asked for a receipt of exactly what I just paid for the rep said, you'll see an entry on your credit card and "I just told you what it covers". So ridiculous.

Heather Ross was clever enough to realize that this is probably part of Canada's Economic Action plan so I went to their website*, and what do you know....she's right.

Forest Act amendments introduced today will help improve forest stewardship and support community resiliency in mountain pine beetle impacted areas. The legislation fulfills recommendations made by the Special Committee on Timber Supply in their August 2012 report, which was based on public hearings and written submissions from First Nations, local communities, industry stakeholders and the public.

I went past the remains of the Aston Tavern again, and took an updated shot of it. Pretty much the same condition as last time.

This time, I continued under the Expressway, and headed around an industrial area to the left.

Old stop signs near the Aston Tavern. The land here really needs to be developed.

Looks like a pre-worboys sign to me.
