Realising age has caught up can manifest as physical changes, a decline in energy, or a shift in perspective.
A piece of advice I was given by a "30-something expert" in ageing was :"Practice Self-Acceptance: Acknowledge and accept the changes that come with age.
(Defeatist cr*p - don't give in to age, fight to the end. we are old not obsolete - if you want to do something then find a way). We are the generation that invented the internet, personal computing, space flight, organ transplants, lasers, super glue, GPS, Mobile phones, DNA testing and sequencing, optic fibres, "the pill" and Mr Blobby.
It's never over until you give in.

Maybe it’s ok to rest, to cry, to acknowledge that you’re not ok, to recognize what you’re feeling (when it’s possible to notice), to allow yourself to grieve, to care for yourself. It makes sense that carrying out these necessary and important actions is unfamiliar, challenging and even scary for you. And you are surviving, growing, learning and healing through working to listen to and do what you can to meet your needs even though it’s not easy—a true victory.

We acknowledge the Mary Valley, Queensland as home of the Kabi Kabi peoples, the Traditional Custodians, whose lands and waters we all now share, respect and love. And here in this place in the Yabba Valley, we specifically recognize the Baiyambora clan as its traditional residents.
We recognise that this territory with its plateaux and gorges, valleys and ranges has always been a place of cultural, spiritual, social and economic significance. And in that culture there was a diversity of art forms, some functional, some educative, some creative, which together, expressed and sustained their culture. So we continue to respect work of Aboriginal artists, their aspirations and expressions, and acknowledge that in the past, at present, and into the future their contributions have, are and always will be part of Australian heritage.
That heritage is all about us, right now. Here at "Art on Yabba" beside "Wild Vine Café" in Imbil, Australia:
“Imbil” – water-bearing wild vine of the softwood scrubs.
“Yabba” – Brachychiton discolour – bush tucker, scrub bottle tree, lacebark kurrajong. Alexander Swanson, a Scot who took up the Yabba Run, inquired of the Baiyambora people the name of the tree whose pink and red flowers are dropped into the creek daily at this time of year. "Yabba", was the reply – thus he named his sheep station and by extension, Yabba Creek, Yabba Road, Yabba Falls, Yabba Range.
And then there is Brachychiton bidwillii, a related species with its rich pink flowers. It is generally a smaller tree and commonly called dwarf kurrajong, but we call it “Little Yabba”.
For the Month of March, we wanted to acknowledge our wonderful library curator, Kourosh, aka DemonSeaman, as our Roleplayer of the month! Constantly on sim in hopes for roleplay, always friendly and kind, and wonderfully welcoming! Thank you so much for being part of the TMR family! We are so happy and proud to have you!
With this Stick I Thee Wed, Cutting the Cake, we are not the only species that forms bonds through rituals!! One of the highlights of Spring is watching the displays of Herons and Egrets as they try to attract a mate through elaborate dances or things such as a simple stick or in this case a exchange of a leaf!! Usually one bird will build the nest and send its mate out for that special stick that must be the correct size!! This is followed by praise, displays and more sticks!! It is amazing to watch and try to photograph!! Happy Monday and as always thanks for your comments and favorites!!

This Christmas I want to send a message of peace to everyone!
I especially want to acknowledge those artists from all over the world, who come to Flickr and show how beautiful a virtual world can be. I also want to thank everyone who takes real life photos that are wonderful. I follow you both with great enthusiasm.
For both kinds of pictures, I feel a job well done deserves a "Favorite" which I give with joy. There are so many, it think the phrase to describe it might be best as “Like a lot”.
I wish everyone’s Christmas to be, above all, quiet and serene, and that it makes you smile
and fills your heart with great hope and joy. I also hope that you share it with your friends and family. This is the best gift you can give or receive this Christmas.
Lots of love,

The Abrahamic religions acknowledge Ezekiel as a prophet. According to the narrative, Ezekiel prophesied the destruction of Judah's capital city Jerusalem. In 587 BCE, the Neo-Babylonian Empire conquered Jerusalem, destroyed Solomon's Temple, and sent the Judahite upper classes into the Babylonian captivity.
However, Ezekiel also prophesied the eventual restoration of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel. It is believed he died around 570 BCE; Ezekiel's Tomb is a Jewish religious site in Mesopotamia. Three decades later, in 539 BCE, the Persian empire conquered Babylon and the Edict of Cyrus repatriated the exiles.
The name "Ezekiel" means "God is strong" or "God strengthens" in Hebrew.

You worked so hard to reach this milestone that seemed unattainable due to the many painful, debilitating, intense, devastating and overwhelming circumstances you constantly experience each moment. Maybe it’s important to acknowledge reaching this milestone and celebrate the fact that time after time you overcame battles that seemed too overpowering. This photo project has been a blessing to you and may it somehow be a gift of encouragement, hope, peace or some other benefit for others.

I decided to share one of my more recent cloud photos in celebration of reaching a milestone with my Clouds photo project that I was unsure I would ever reach. I’ve spent years taking cloud photos and many many months putting this project together for print. On Wednesday evening I managed to get to the point in this project where I was able to order a test print of some of the Clouds images in zine format before eventually progressing with the full zine print. In addition to my intense struggles I battle each moment of each day I also had to overcome the hurdles of fear, trying something new, something unknown, teaching myself to use desktop publishing software and the confusion and complications I was having saving this project as a PDF. It felt like a huge accomplishment and a true victory to see my test print zine on the webpage of the printing company and to click the mouse to place the order. I considered this an accomplishment and victory for myself and hopefully for others as well with the hope it may be of benefit to others in some way. While I am doing this for myself I also have you in mind while working on this project.
You can read a blog post I wrote about my Clouds project here: amandacreamerphotography.com/2022/07/09/photo-project-clo...

Lauper is known for her distinctive image, featuring a variety of hair colors and eccentric clothing, and for her powerful and distinctive four-octave singing range. She has been celebrated for her humanitarian work, particularly as an advocate for LGBT rights in the United States. Her charitable efforts were acknowledged in 2013 when she was invited as a special guest to attend U.S. President Barack Obama's second inauguration. Cynthia Ann Stephanie Lauper (born June 22, 1953) is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and activist. Her career has spanned over 40. I love her flambpyant style and a few of her songs too.

The Snowbirds, officially known as 431 Air Demonstration Squadron are the military aerobatics or air show flight demonstration team of the Royal Canadian Air Force. The team is based at 15 Wing Moose Jaw near Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The Snowbirds' official purpose is to "demonstrate the skill, professionalism, and teamwork of Canadian Forces personnel". The Snowbirds are the first Canadian air demonstration team to be designated as a squadron.
The show team flies 11 CT-114 Tutors—nine for aerobatic performances, including two solo aircraft, and two as spares, flown by the team coordinators. Approximately 80 Canadian Forces personnel work with the squadron full-time; 24 personnel are in the show team that travels during the show season. The Snowbirds are the only major military aerobatics team that operates without a support aircraft.
The Snowbirds continue the flying demonstration tradition of previous Canadian air force aerobatic teams, which include the Siskins, the Blue Devils, the Golden Hawks, and the Golden Centennaires.
Number 431 Squadron formed on 11 November 1942, at RAF Burn (in North Yorkshire), flying Wellington B.X medium bombers with No. 4 Group RAF Bomber Command. The squadron moved to RAF Tholthorpe in mid-1943 as part of the move to bring all RCAF squadrons into one operational group – No. 6 Group RCAF – and converted to Halifax B.V four-engined heavy bombers. In December 1943 the squadron moved to RAF Croft where it was re-equipped with Halifax IIIs and later, Lancaster B.X aircraft. The squadron moved to RCAF Station Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, after the war, disbanding there on 5 September 1945.

“A Backwards Attitude” acknowledges a post-digital and enlightenment age where information is everywhere and the correct course of action is clear, but an attitude of rejection thwarts it.
This sculpture represents a pivotal point in technology, its effects on our lives, and our need to recognise that. The work asserts that the entire world is available for digital consumption.

It would be remiss of me not to acknowledge the passing of Jane Goodall. She was an inspiration to me, as she was to the world, when I was a young biologist
Jane Goodall (1934–2025)
Pioneer, primatologist, and lifelong advocate for animals and the environment. Her groundbreaking work with chimpanzees transformed our understanding of the natural world and inspired generations to protect it. Through the Jane Goodall Institute and Roots & Shoots, her legacy continues to guide us toward compassion, conservation, and hope.
We need more Jane Goodall's in the world. Hopefully her legacy will continue to inspire compassion and our understanding that animals are sentient beings -sharing emotions and connections closer to ours than we dare imaging.
And we must ask ourselves: what are the consequences if we truly accept this?

I've been meaning to acknowledge the Grand Canyon Centennial - 100 years in the National Park Service - by posting a photo. I went through the archives looking for something nice that I hadn't previously posted. I have a photo very much like this one on my photostream, but it isn't this one. This was taken 3 years ago from the top of the Red Wall near the Tanner Trail. IMO one of the best views in a place full of wonderful views.

It did occur to me, during the period that GBRF ran the Deltic "Royal Scots Grey" during late spring and Early summer in 2011, that the first, or last portion of its short journey from the Lynemouth Aluminium Smelter to the North Blyth Aluminia import silos, that this section of line ran along the coastal sand dunes. In fact there had been colliery tipping on the beach up to the end of the 1960s here from Cambois colliery. There is a picture of this in one of Colin Giffords books. And Gone Forever, plate 213 to be precise.
But there were scant few in the hundreds of photographers who turned up during that time who acknowledged this obvious fact. Well, you would have to arrive early, and not many then shot in dull conditions.
So a calculation was made. The sun would rise over the sea at an acute angle in the mid winter, and the train for Fort William left on Saturday at 09:02, around half an hour after sunrise. Prone to run a little early too..
Keep an eye on the forecast and go. So long as the empties ran the day the day before.
Postscript:
The Lynemouth smelter, which received three trains each weekday from here, closed in March 2012, leaving from then on two to three trains a week to Fort William from this terminal.

Sometimes the first picture is the best. I could leave this place alone but there is something here, there is not another place like it and its not just the sea and the structures. Its everything that made what it is now, and what it was before. Life feels different in the North. For all its economic inequalities, life feels better up here, the melancholic celebration of life in the North is symphony for the soul.

I've been watching these boys bond since they met a week ago, but this is another "first"--finding them snuggling together. This series of 4 shots was shot in this sequence. Muse and Guru acknowledged my presence with a few stretches, without waking up as far as I could tell. Then they settled right back to what they were doing. Power napping.

Palazzo del Te, or simply Palazzo Te, is a palace in the suburbs of Mantua, Italy. It is an example of the mannerist style of architecture, and the acknowledged masterpiece of Giulio Romano.
Palazzo del Te was constructed 1524–34 for Federico II Gonzaga, Marquess of Mantua, as a palace of leisure. The site chosen was that of the family stables which he had built at Isola del Te, on the edge of the marshes just outside Mantua's city walls, as early as in 1502.
Giulio Romano, a pupil of Raphael, was commissioned to design the building. The shell of the palazzo, erected within eighteen months, is basically a square house containing a cloistered courtyard. A formal garden complemented the house, enclosed by colonnaded outbuildings ending in a semicircular colonnade known as the Exedra or Esedra.
Once the shell of the building was completed, for ten years a team of plasterers, carvers, and fresco painters laboured until barely a surface in any of the loggias or salons remained undecorated. Under Romano's direction, local decorative painters such as Benedetto Pagni and Rinaldo Mantovano worked extensively on the frescos.
In July 1630, during the War of the Mantuan Succession (1628–31), Mantua and the palace were sacked over three days by an Imperial army of 36,000 Landsknecht mercenaries. The remaining populace fell victim to one of the worst plagues in history that the invaders had brought with them. The Palazzo was looted from top to bottom and remained an empty shell with nymphs, gods, goddesses, and giants adorning the walls of the empty, echoing rooms.
El Capitan is a vertical rock formation in Yosemite National Park, on the north side of Yosemite Valley, near its western end. The granite monolith is about 3,000 feet from base to summit along its tallest face and is a world-famous location for big wall climbing, including the disciplines of aid climbing, free climbing, and more recently for free solo climbing.
The formation was named "El Capitan" by the Mariposa Battalion when they explored the valley in 1851. El Capitán was taken to be a loose Spanish translation of the local Native American name for the cliff, “Tutokanula” or "Rock Chief".
The "Rock Chief" etymology is based on the written account of Mariposa Battalion doctor Lafayette Bunnell in his 1892 book. Bunnell reports that Ahwahneechee Chief Tenaya explained to him, forty-one years earlier, in 1851, that the massive formation, called Tutokanula, could be translated as "Rock Chief" because the face of the cliff looks like a giant rock Chief. In Bunnell's account, however, he notes that this translation may be wrong, stating: “I am not etymologist enough to understand just how the word has been constructed… I am found in error, I shall be most willing to acknowledge it, for few things appear more uncertain, or more difficult to obtain, than a complete understanding of the soul of an Indian language.”
An alternative etymology is that "Tutokanula" is Miwok for “Inchworm Rock”. Julia F. Parker, the preeminent Coast Miwok-Kashaya Pomo basket-weaver and Yosemite Museum cultural ambassador since 1960, explains that the name Tutokanula, or “Inchworm Rock”, originates in the Miwok creation story for the giant rock, a legend in which two bear cubs are improbably rescued by a humble inchworm. In the story, a mother bear and her two cubs are walking along the river. The mother forages for seeds and berries while the two cubs nap in the sun on a flat rock. While the cubs sleep, the rock grows and grows, above the trees and into the sky. The mother bear is unable to climb the rock to get to her cubs and she becomes afraid and asks for help. The fox, the mouse, the mountain lion, and every other animal tries to climb to the top of the giant rock but they each fail. Finally, the lowly little inchworm tries the climb and successfully makes it all the way to the top and rescues the cubs. All the animals are happy to see that the little inchworm has saved the two bear cubs and the rock is named in the inchworm's honor.
The “Inchworm Rock” version of the meaning of Tutokanula is also described in the story "Two Bear Cubs: A Miwok Legend from California's Yosemite Valley" by Robert D. San Souci and in the First People Miwok recounting of the El Cap legend.
The top of El Capitan can be reached by hiking out of Yosemite Valley on the trail next to Yosemite Falls, then proceeding west. For climbers, the challenge is to climb up the sheer granite face. There are many named climbing routes, all of them arduous, including Iron Hawk and Sea of Dreams.
Some people disapprove of this subject matter, out of discomfort, or respect for the departed.
I feel that these monuments are placed for the purpose of remembrance of the individual, to be seen, their lives to be acknowledged, even or perhaps especially when there is no longer anyone alive who shared their fleeting and precious existence.

Acknowledging, with hand on heart, my "Canadianness". There's an oblique nod here to one of my favourite Canadian artists, Lawren Harris and his work. One piece in particular. His colour scheme is quite different but it's the same kind of evergreen branches, laden with snow. You might say my image is night to his day.
Harris was a member of "The Group of Seven", a much loved and utterly Canadian assembly of painters the sought out and truly conveyed a sense of the unique Canadian landscape. His work stands out for it's lack of heavy texture ( impasto ) and it's ethereal, even mystical, atmosphere. There is always a light outside of the frame entering in from an unusual angle, as if it were divine.
Indeed, in his later years, Harris become deeply involved in Theosophy, a 19th century mystical moment that was somewhat Platonic or Neo-Platonic in its views. Utterly unlike, but sharing the same motivation, Harris, like Piet Mondrian, also a Theosophist, sought to convey something of a higher realm of ideal form through his work. His last paintings were purely abstract but if one looks long enough, one can still see references here and there to the Canadian landscape.

The middle ground. The place where you aren’t at point A or point B. It’s the between space. A transition can be a battleground or a journey. Sometimes we are between seasons in life. We must acknowledge the place where we were before and look forward to the new change that lies ahead. Let this be a hopeful reminder to enjoy the moments, laughter, and place you are in. This post goes out to the residents who are between seasons. I am rooting for your journey to become an adventure of a lifetime. – Bliss

I like this image, but I do acknowledge it's a bit busy.
Not the complete Johnson's Dictionary but a selection from the First Edition which appeared in 1755 in two very large volumes, each the size of a lectern Bible. Johnson acknowledged the source of the words that he included in his dictionary, having selected them from earlier dictionaries. Johnson's dictionary was set apart from previous ones because he added his own interpretations and meanings to the words that he used.
….acknowledging, trying to survive and cope with the way past harm affects me in the present and working to be mindful, aware, practice healthy ways of living and to be present in the moment with those who are close to me. Certainly not easy or without pain…and I’m muddling through.

We stopped at Geysir, in the hope of seeing him spout a jet of steam. As if Njord had heard us, for a moment the strong winds dropped, the rain eased, the majestic downslope clouds darkened ominously - and at that moment, Geysir blew a plume of steam in the shape of Frigg, queen of Asgaard.
Even for a land steeped in mythology, this was a magical moment.

“If something seems too hard, let go. It is the hardest and yet the most simplest thing to do, but in letting go we acknowledge that that certain something was never meant for us and trying to cling on just brings about more unhappiness, not only to us, but to others too. Today I find that the one who understands me most is not the one I love the most, nor is it someone who loves me the most … matters of the heart are felt not heard and though the silence is deafening I am grateful to the one who found me there and brought me back.” - AP

PEOPLE – SOPHIE ZELMANI
The air is blue
surrounding me instead of you
my heart stops still
the echoed beat sounds in my ear
and all I know and all I fear
comes rushing; rising through my veins
and I am me and all the pain
I ever felt leaves me alone
to stand here chilled to aching bones
frozen in this quiet moment
solitude that feels so numb
the memories that leave me wanting
you instead; to bring you home
ssh! Silence! I thought I heard a noise
someone standing close to me
breathing warm air on my neck
the tiny hairs so tenderly
rise up like flowers that reach for light
for sunshine and the stars so bright
I lit a candle but a breeze
so swiftly blew; I felt my knees
buckle under and pull me down
in darkness praying for a sign
that all was well with you and me
I peered into the space beside me
sensing there was someone there
someone who might hear my prayer
I spoke aloud and closed my eyes
hoping this feeling would subside
but still an uneasy suffocation
hands round my throat; a choking sensation
but it was just my imagination
there was nothing left to fear
surely not in this place so holy
where so many parishioners found their peace
and minds were stilled and melancholy
was taken away; replaced with grace
I felt the cold winds turn around
the sound of changes ringing
the warm stones softened underground
I heard the sounds of angels singing
it was very distant; a gentle hum
but comforting it achieved it's mission
to heal the wounds of heart and soul
my prayers were answered; I just listened
no need to beg; no need for words
all is known; our prayers are heard
and we are redeemed from all our sins
are freed from all our mortal whims
the things we ask and do not receive
perhaps they are just not meant to be
the difference between need and greed
the planting of a beautiful seed
we may want and we may ask
we may feel some is a daunting task
but simply letting go of ego
let go of self and freely go
how wonderful it feels to me
to know this simple way to be
and I will remember it all my days
when I found freedom from my ways.

My artwork is a compilation of 3 of my photographs.
I've not acknowledged any comments on my photos for a while now, so please accept my apologies for this - I've been a bit preoccupied with photography and mountains!
My climbing partner and I are travelling to the Highlands of Scotland (via Wales) so I may be off the airwaves for a couple of weeks. I love the inspiration you can draw from the work of Flickr members so I'll try and check in to Flickr as and when I can.
Thanks for checking out my photos and I hope to be able to post some half decent photos of Britain's mountain scenery when I return.
