Produced today as project work for a Royal Photographic Society workshop on Abstract Photography let by Nigel Wilson.

This particular image is of the neck of a small, square oil-filled bottle that is used to hold reed diffusers as a room air freshener. A wide aperture was used in order to create a very limited depth of field, so only the inside of the bottle rim was sharp..

The inside of an aquarium, actually.

Red onion sliced and then soaked in a mixture of Turmeric powder and water. The image taken with Warm White Balance in Macro mode with a desk lamp as the light source. Minor post-processing in Picasa2 and Photoshop CS2.

Abstract

Pathstract.

Monday morning I woke to rain ~ hooray! Raindrops hanging from the railings on the balcony, roof tiles soaking wet, and sidewalk shiny. Before breakfast I stepped outside to my balcony to see what I could see before the wet dried up!
