ART+TECH FESTIVAL 2016 - #ARTEX

Artificial Experiences

codame.com/events/art-tech-festival-2016---artex

As technology seeps into every second of our waking lives, what experiences from the digital realm are real and worthy of engagement? What moments spent in flesh are glossed over and abstracted, losing their authenticity? How do we assign value to experiences, inside and outside of our screens? How is that value reflected in the ways we work and play in San Francisco and other urban environments?

Where: Hotel Zetta, 55 5th Street in San Francisco, California.

What: Music, art installations and performances. Meet the artists and learn about their work:

Possible desktop picture?

This is an abstracted, stylized view of the

double waterfall feature at Douthat State Park in Millboro, Virginia. The falls represent the overflow from beautiful Douthat Lake which lies above this vantage point.

acrylic, (with a washi underlay), on canvas. 42x21 (2004)

Abstracted imagery created from macro/close up views of blown glass.

Abstracted tree. Part of a set for the exhibition 'This Air is Not for Sale'

it's been this way for 3 years now...

The building in this photograph is abstracted somewhat by the low angle and the orientation of the picture, which makes it look futuristic. The contrast between the greyness of the picture and the blue of the sky makes the building look like the setting of some futuristic dystopia. This image is part of a body of work by Mirko Nahmijas that captures buildings like this in a similar way.
