Heavy rains this morning and then all sunshine!

As this very colorful! and loud! umbrella was drying it reminded me of a butterfly

Experimenting with light painting to produce the soft cloudy/smoky effect in the background.

Light in the night series

About 5 years ago, posts were set around the perimter of the small reservoir where I like to photograph to keep motorized vehicles from damaging the shoreline. This year, the lake level has dropped considerably leaving spaces along the edges where ATVs can slip through, which they have. The once quiet campgrounds and forest are now abuzz with the sound of 100 lawn mowers.

At another lake, higher up on the mountain, similar posting has kept ATVs out of the marshy flat that surrounds half of the lake's perimeter. On my last visit, someone had unbolted a cross beam allowing entry to the wetland leaving deep grooves in the mud and flattened grass.

Just because you can go there, doesn't mean you should.

This is a close-up photo of rusting, weathered details on an old train engine at the Railway Museum in Musquodoboit Harbour.

I'm away for a short while now on my 'hols' so will catch up with everyone's streams when I get back. Have decided to leave you with something a little different from my norm:

Frustrated by the poor light lochside at Glen Affric the other day I moved into the dense birch woods to try some (moderately) slow shutter, hand-held, shots of the trees. I was quite pleased with the result of this somewhat abstract offering.

Continuing my current fascination with colour abstracts, this is a macro of the stamens of a flower.

This was taken in the winter after the tide had gone out. The shadow lines are coming from an erosion fence.

To avoid confusion with some group invitations, all of my images are created from blank. Any image from a photo is clearly marked as such.

A different approach and idea for a sunrise photo, using those twigs as the subject with the rising sun behind !
