.... another picture that I was captivated with when I saw it down the microscope. It's a squash of a minute sample of tissue from a fungus. I think this image shows a conidium, bearing conidiospores. (These are asexual structures present on some fungi.)

Make a picture entirely for yourself.

— Jim Naughten

Jim adds...

“Imagine its going to hang in a gallery and you are the only person who will ever see it. No peers, friends, family, or anyone else will see it. I often use this process to visualise a project or story, free of any outside influence or judgement. You may just find your voice.”

I have no idea how these shots got taken and what they are of. But I like them.

This is the 20th layer of my exercise painting.

Exercise painting was something that just happened to fall into my life as I started going to school to learn more about health sciences. I wanted to bring my love for exercise and art together into one practice. As a result, I now have a canvas of dry wall. On some layers I use a roller painter to work out my arms. I also scribble class notes on it in thick marker because I find that it helps me to retain information. The layers that you see in particular: The tree and the moon I created using both my right and left hands in order to use the muscles on both sides, and the next layer I added the leaves through a series of yoga poses. I became stuck thinking about what to do next, but then I decided that I wanted to throw my love for digital art in the mix and so I composed myself into the painting.

If you would like to hear me try to talk about my exercise painting, I had a video here: vimeo.com/141956985

This image is not manipulated. Took this image at the expo "Resplandor y Soledad" by the Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang, shown at the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) in 2010. The upper part is the lower section of one of his burned powder paintings, hanging from the ceiling, and the lower part is a little fragment from a much bigger work located below. To see the exact pieces check out minute 1:03 on this video:

Building under constrution in Nazareth near Basilica of the Annunciation. Could be a hotel or something. Not really sure.

Nazareth, Israel (Monday 22 November 2010 @ 4:30pm).

This structure is a sort of control tower from which a number of bridges in our part of Rotterdam are operated, among which the famous Erasmus bridge.
