Cities grow by absorbing tiny old villages and making them just another neighbourhood. New apartment and office buildings grow where there were once workshops and small family houses. But sometimes, old workshops and wearhouses hold on.

Chanthaburi (จันทบุรี) is an absorbing riverside town where precious stones ranging from sapphires to emeralds are traded every weekend in a bustling street gem market. Nearby, restored waterfront buildings in the historic quarter are evidence of how the Chinese, French and Vietnamese have influenced life – and architecture – here.

Vietnamese Christians fled persecution from Cochin China (southern Vietnam) in the 19th century and came to Chanthaburi. The French colonized Chanthaburi from 1893 to 1905 due to a dispute over the border between Siam and Indochina. More Vietnamese arrived in the 1920s and 1940s as they fled French rule, then a third wave followed in 1975 after the Communist takeover of southern Vietnam.

If you liked my Antroz, you'll love this! Yes, I will be continuing off this little series of Eldritch Makutas I made. Krika came to be through that skeletal ribcage design with the Mistika Hau inside with tentacles erupting from it. Also, that lovely Krika head design was possible with the help of L.A Miranda!

So this version of Krika instead of repulsion, he instead absorbs the living around him, incorporating them into his body, and constantly evolving and upgrading his body, and because he absorbed the Hau, he has the ability to shield himself.

Aechmea fasciata or Silver Vase Bromeliad is native to Brazil, being among the most beautiful and probably the best known of all Bromeliads.

Bromeliads love the heat and humidity, thus they are found in the tropics, just like many ferns, cacti and orchids as well as in the temperate zone, along mosses, liverworts, lichens and algae.

Most of the species in this genus are air plants (epiphytes) growing upon other plant, such as trees, or sometimes upon building or even telegraph wire, absorbing moisture and nutrients from the air and rain.

Bighorns are named for their large curved horns. Males have large horn cores, enlarged cornual and frontal sinuses, and internal bony septa. These adaptations serve to protect the Ram's brain by absorbing the impact of clashes (Wikipedia).

"Living is like tearing through a museum. Not until later do you really start absorbing what you saw, thinking about it, looking it up in a book, and remembering - because you can't take it in all at once."

"Vivir es como precipitarse en un museo. No hasta después es que realmente empiezas a absorber lo que viste, pensando en ello, buscandolo en un libro, y recordando. Ya que no puedes digerir todo en un momento."

"The quiver tree that grows in the Namib is a kind of aloe. Like the rest of its family, it has thick succulent leaves growing in a rosette, but these are hoisted twenty feet in the air, each at the end of a stumpy branch. That in itself is a way of escaping the worst of the devastating heat and reducing the amount of moisture inevitably lost by evaporation from the surface of their leaves. The branches themselves are thickly covered in a fine white powder. That too helps in keeping cool for it reflects the sun's heat instead of absorbing it…The branches and trunk are filled with a soft fibre that can hold a great quantity of water." Absorbing nature on a foggy/rainy day near the Blue Ridge Parkway

"Her eyes glazed over as the voices for the other end of the call droned on from her computer speakers. It felt as if her office chair was slowly absorbing her, as she could feel herself slipping into the most unconventional slouch. Time couldn’t go fast enough in these moments. The meetings, the pointless optimism, the promise of family when she knew very well that she was just a drop in this big sea of people. This information wouldn’t even be important the next day, much less in the next hour. A long and heavy sigh escaped her lungs and with it, her body slouched more. The voices were nothing more than white noise at this point. Why couldn’t time just pick up the pace?

As her eyes became more heavy, something faint cut through the white noise of voices. The sound was quiet, yet prominent enough to draw back her attention. The gentle tick of a small pocket watch, sitting on her desk, brought her back into a reality that made her brain suddenly spin. She picked up the pocket watch and clicked it open, running her thumb along the detailed casing. Her grandmother had given it to her before she left this world. But rather than a sweet trinket gifted from a loved one, the watch only served now in days of a constant reminder of the fleeting seconds she had left with her grandmother. There wasn’t enough time left to say all the things she wanted to say.

Tick.

She was there.

Tock.

She was gone.

And then suddenly, in the blink of an eye, life was moving too quickly. The days turned into hours. Hours into minutes. Minutes into seconds.

Tick. She was a year older. Tock. She got a new job. Tick. A friend got married. Tock. Another moved away. Tick. Fine lines appeared. Tock. New aches and pains emerged. Tick. A lovely greeting was made. Tock. Followed by a goodbye.

Tick. A first breath was taken.

Tock. A final breath release.

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

“Ok, that’s all we have for today’s meeting.”

The voice made her jump, as she returned from her dissociation. An hour had passed… in what felt like a minute. As everyone hung up, she stayed on the line, staring blankly at the screen. Not a word from the meeting was retained. An hour of time… lost."

This is a rootless plant that purifies the air, like

all Tillandsias, it helps improve air quality by absorbing pollutants, making your environment healthier.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The sun's out today. Haven't seen the sun in ages. I loved just standing outside and absorbing the rays, but then got jumpy and had to blow some bubbles.

I love the dark background here. It's the shaded corner of the building (an old lunatic asylum). That little bubble inside is doing strange things to the larger reflection - see all the scattering flecks inside!

It's a sweet and sensual experience to blow a bubble inside a bubble. You just pucker your lips and pop a bit of air through the surface. Amazing that it's so simple. Amazing that it's even possible. It's fun too. If the bubble surface is too thin, it just pops. POP!

I'll be a bit cryptic here, but this technique has given me ideas for something very beautiful. I'll need help with it (not saying what yet!), but if I can get it to work it's going to be better than anything I've done with bubbles before........

The heat/warmth thunderstorms are due to the diurnal overheating of the emerged lands operated by the strong late-spring and summer sun.

It, from late morning, creates ascending currents progressively more intense and that find further "springboard" along the slopes of the reliefs.

Hot currents, if in the presence of humidity in the column of air and/or relatively cold air at high altitude, tend to condense in steam towers, called "cumulus", which develop mainly vertically giving shape to the clouds called "cumulus congestus" and "cumulus nimbus" (which is the evolution of the "congestus").

When the summit of these clouds reaches 8-10000m of altitude tends to freeze completely and to go to the "capillatus" phase with the tops of the towering clouds that from a cauliflower shape ("cumulonimbus calvus"), tend to ravel, broad and expand horizontally (due to the stratospheric thermal inversion), forming the typical anvil structure ("Cumulonimbus capillatus incus") which represents the phase of maximum development of the cloud and indicates for sure the presence of a thunderstorm at its base, even very violent, especially if there is a presence of wet and cool streams, as MCS and Supercells, with alluvial rains and tornado can form from these storms.

The weakened system, then, continues to expand, by inertia, only horizontally and thin up to veil a good part of the surrounding sky with "cirrus cumulus-genite" clouds.

In the evening, without more sun, the process totally ends with the complete clearing of the sky.

In some parts of the Karst Region and in the Alps, during the late spring-summer period, these phenomena are almost daily and they themselves provide the humidity for the following ones.

The sea is less hot and inertially much slower than the land emerged in absorbing heat; this inhibits the diurnal thermoconvex phenomena, but, can activate others during the night, especially in the second half of summer, when it gives heat (ie potential energy) to the troposphere system, activating the marine thermoconvection, which is however less frequent and is best exploited to the passage of a cold frontal system.

This is the westernmost point of mainland France. Full of history and memories, the lighthouse at Pointe Saint-Mathieu is a symbolic monument for all the sailors of Brittany.

Pointe Saint-Mathieu is a site rich with history, nature and heritage. This is a wonderful place for walks and sightseeing, with the GR34 walking trail nearby, as well as the Iroise Marine Park. There's also an abbey that dates back to the 16th Century, the abbey museum, the lighthouse, the National Memorial to sailors lost at sea, and the semaphore. The panoramic views are a great reward for climbing the 163 steps. This lighthouse has been lit since 1835. It is 37 metres high, and its white light flashes across the ocean every 15 seconds. With a range of 29 miles, it indicates the route that will take you into the narrows of Brest harbour. The lighthouse was electrified in 1937 and fully automated in 1996. The last lighthouse keeper left in 2006. The Saint-Mathieu Lighthouse has been classed as a historical monument since November 2010.
