Black cockatoos cut banksia cones into neat sections, then drop them, seemingly to decorate the walking tracks. Nice cockies!

Looking towards Skipton from Barden Road above Eastby on a beautiful April morning.

From the village Fuorns we climbed steeply through a wood. We were rewarded with some magnificent views, here in the direction of the Lukmanierpass.

The eastbound California Zephyr is curving across US 191 and Willow Creek as they follow the Price River down towards Helper, Utah. On this day the train was about 2 hours late allowing daylight shots on the east slope of Soldier Summit. 4/15/2023

Watendlath is a hamlet and tarn (a small lake) in Cumbria in England.

Watendlath sits high between the Borrowdale and Thirlmere valleys at 863 feet (263 m) above sea level.

Blea Tarn Gill, 700 feet (210 m) above Watendlath Tarn, provides the tarn with its water. Water from Watendlath Tarn flows into the beck of the same name and eventually feeds Lodore Falls, and ends up in Derwent Water.

The tarn is 7 acres (28,000 m2) in size, with a maximum depth of 56 feet (17 m). It was given to the National Trust by Queen Victoria's daughter, Princess Louise, in memory of her brother, King Edward VII.

A great October day for a long Dales walk. I love this view from above Kettlewell...it could be up there with my favourite Dales vistas. Things still very green. Sat a while waiting for the light

"The Purple Swamphen is a large rail. It is mainly dusky black above, with a broad dark blue collar, and dark blue to purple below. As the Purple Swamphen walks, it flicks its tail up and down, revealing its white undertail. The bill is red and robust, and the legs and feet orange-red. For such a bulky bird, the Swamphen is an accomplished flier and will readily take to the air to escape danger. In flight, the long legs and elongated toes trail behind or hang underneath the body. Purple Swamphens are proficient swimmers, but prefer to wander on the edges of the water, among reeds and on floating vegetation."

Very honored to have two pieces in a group show titled 'Emergence' as part of The Artist Guild of Lockport TAGOL in the historic Gaylord Building in Lockport. Show opening is tonight (Saturday the 10th) from 5-8 if you are in that corner of the world.

I also left my laptop battery cable at work - so I may only have ten minutes left for the rest of the weekend. If so - have a great weekend!

What are your associations when you hear the term "class struggle"? It is probably an educated guess that a lot of history will pop up, including that of the socialist and trade union movements and even that of Marxism and Communism. Can I invite you to widen the perspective and, as I would see it, to look at what goes really on in a lot of western societies, particularly that of the UK? What is happening here can indeed be described as class struggle, but it is not that coming from below. It is class struggle from above. It is the people of wealth who are using the political and legal systems of the modern state in order to gratify themselves and exclude the large majority from the benefits of their own work. Profits are invested wherever the most lucrative gains can be made, and this means that capital is being exported, not re-invested at home. Tax avoidance is another characteristic of class struggle from above, I probably don't need to go into details. You must also have noticed that over the last three decades work has become cheap. A generation ago, one earner (usually the husband) was able to sustain the life of a family, today, you would need two earners to do the same. And the jobs they would be having would be insecure too. In the UK, as in France as well, there is opposition to this process of continuously eroding the people's access to life's opportunities. In Britain, people are on strike for a very good reason. Possibly half way up Ben MacDui now looking back along the way we've come along Glen Lui.

Ben Macdui is the UK's 2nd highest peak (second only to Ben Nevis) and stands at 1309m (4294ft). After descending from this Munro we make a climb to the 2nd Munro of the day, Carn a' Mhaim (pronounced Carn-ah-Vame) at 1037m (3402ft).

Flying over the Bodega Head on a calm January evening, 150 meters above California's Pacific Ocean coastline, looking South toward Bodega Bay, with San Francisco just over the horizon. This is a panorama, stitched from two frames, each a composite of three images, shot with the DJI Mini 2 drone.
