I always experience that one idea brings on another and then I am feverishly working away, time flies and nothing goes fast enough... my actions can't follow my brain, tee hee, it's not easy being a 'creative', nor to live with one... day crosses into night, I forget to eat or drink, I'm in my own world.

In my garden, this is the only plant I do not know the name of!

I bought it on the market, years ago, it had a lovely photo of how it would become, no name though... shows again how deceptive photos can be, LOL!

Anyway, it is not very big, very hardy, with insignificant small leaves, in late Spring... it grows insignificant little white flowers, mostly hidden under the leaves, in Summer it is ... just there?

Then comes Autumn, and the leaves turn on all the colours of the rainbow, for a few short weeks it becomes an ABSOLUTE focal point of attraction in the garden... pure GLORY... then it's gone again... till next year!

I thought I'd share this with you, bringing in a branch, in the studio I can really show you the glory.

This is a Dwarf Aquilegia,(Columbine/Granny's Bonnet) with the very appropriate name of RHUBARB and CUSTARD!

Aquilegia, also known as Columbine or Granny Bonnet, are spring flowering, old fashioned, cottage garden favourites.

Compact varieties make great rockery plants while taller varieties sit well among shrubs or in the dappled shade of an open woodland setting.

I am obsessed with light.

No matter what source.

This is the best advice that I can give any photographer.

Many shooters are more concerned with learning buttons, dials, and software than with learning to truly see light.

Yet, if you become a connaisseur of light, you’ll see opportunities for great shots that you did not see before.

Learn to SEE light and most likely, you will not make so many disappointing images.

The four types of light are : hard light, soft light, specular and diffused light.

Photography is “writing with light.”

There are five fundamental characteristics of light: Direction, Intensity, Color, Contrast, and Hardness.

PHYSALIS alkekengi or Chinese Lantern Plant, they are native from southern Europe east across southern Asia to Japan.

Popular for the papery bright-orange lantern pods that develop around the ripening fruit, these are often cut and used for Thanksgiving and Halloween arrangements.

Plants are aggressive spreaders, and best kept out of the perennial border so they don't take over.

Also can be grown in tubs.

Small white flowers appear in midsummer, over a bushy mound of coarse green leaves.

Pods are green at first, but should be harvested as soon as the orange colour develops, the leaves stripped then stems hung upside down to dry in a warm dark room.

It is almost Mid Autumn, the trees are still dressed, the shops are gearing towards the sparkly season...

We were fortunate to share our life with our beautiful and quirky Border Collie, for 16 1/2 years.

His name was Picasso, because of his special markings (and those were our ‘painting days’) , Pica pour les amis.

At this point, he must have been about 3 years old, we also had a goldfish, not called Wanda LOL.

I cleaned the bowl each week and would decant the fish for a moment in this square vase, put it on the floor, because it was so heavy, to the delight of Pica, who could thus get close to this alien moving thing!

He would stand there, like wanting to play, yet just staring at it, jumping now and then when the fish made a sudden move.

Aaah I still miss him so very badly, only lots of memories left now and photographs of course.

I shot this on Hasselblad because that was the camera at hand, not really the right camera for a grab shot! But hey…

Most dogs love water, Pica not different, he loved chasing the gulls OFF the beach into the sea.

The boxer, on a hot HOT Summer's day joined the water games, loving it!

For Valentine, everything is wrapped with shiny red ribbon.

... fresh Physalis in their husks. Both to eat and to photograph!

Physalis is characterised by the small orange fruit similar in size, shape and structure to a small tomato, but partly or fully enclosed in a large papery husk derived from the calyx.

The berry also goes by the names Golden Strawberry,Chinese Lantern and Cape gooseberry.

Not all Physalis species bear edible fruit. Select species are cultivated for their edible fruit, however; the typical Physalis fruit is similar to a firm tomato in texture, and like strawberries or pineapple in flavour, with a mild acidity.

Physalis fruit is a good source of vitamin C, beta-carotene, iron, calcium and trace amounts of B vitamins.

These fruits contain 18 kinds of amino acids.

These berries are also abundant in polysaccharides, compounds that may help fortify the immune system.

Alstroemeria, also called Peruvian /Inca lily, named after the Swedish baron Clas Alströmer

They are all native to South America although some have become naturalised in the United States, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Madeira and the Canary Islands.

Species of Alstroemeria from Chile are winter-growing plants while those of Brazil are summer-growing.

Monochromatic? Not really he? All the shades of grey... from a true black to a pure white... as it should be!

I love the subtle tones, all the varied tones, that give the flower/petals/stems their texture, depth and form, their delectable shapes accentuated, extracted and emphasised without the colour.

Tutufa is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Bursidae, the frog shells.

Photography can play games with our visual perception, LOL

It is early October and we are in Scotland, so the weather is ‘Scottish’… which means, some sun, racing clouds, fast showers, lots of light play on the hills and oooh interesting light.

As we are high up, we are closer to the sky, so; often the top of the hills are covered in eerie wisps of white cloud.

Like a lover’s caress.

The weather doesn’t bother us, we take it as it comes, everything has its charms and moods.

When in The Highlands, you just have to see it with mist and rain.

We stand on the shore of many a Loch , standing silent, stunned by such beauty, which changes by the second! I capture the rain.

This is again how it came out of my camera!

I’m a ‘purist’, lol

Capucine is the name of this flower in French.

In English, the flower is called Nasturtium indicum.

Tropaeolum majus is a species of flowering plant in the family Tropaeolaceae, originating in the Andes from Bolivia north to Colombia.

An easily-grown annual with disc-shaped leaves and brilliant orange or red flowers, it is of cultivated, probably hybrid origin.

Nasturtiums are used as companion plants for biological pest control, repelling some pests, acting as a trap crop for others and attracting predatory insects.

Both the flowers and leaves of the Nasturtium plant are edible and have a peppery taste, similar to that of watercress.
