Hulk strongest there is! Nuff said.

Well, except that Iron Man is good at pumping iron and that Thor is going to be pretty thor after this workout. Get it?

Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... thanks to you all.

This is the big one. I remember during the spring of 7th grade, this film was my life, both before and after its release. The hype for this film was immeasurable for this film, I remember all I wanted for my birthday that year was tickets to The Avengers, even though my birthday was two months before its release! This movie was my life in 2012, it was the film I’ve seen the most in theaters, until Ant-Man came around of course. I watched this film so many damn times that it kinda wore on me and I haven’t really seen it in a while, so I was pretty jacked to watch it again. The first Avengers is a film hailed as a modern classic blockbuster when it was released, but does it still hold up after the universe it celebrated back in 2012 has expanded so vastly? Let’s check it out!

Good: First thing first, we must discuss the accomplishment that this film has made. The Avengers manages to balance a large scale blockbuster with multiple leading roles of characters we’ve grown to love in previous film perfectly and there’s no discussion why it made so much money, this movie is a success in all marks. It usually hard in these kinds of team films to get through a first act and set up all the players, and The Avengers does it flawlessly. Sure there’s less baggage when most of these characters have already been introduced to audiences in previous films, but even that is a success on its own! The best scenes in this movie are when we see superheroes just together, whether its fighting off aliens or just arguing in a room, this has never happened before in cinema and this movie will never not be special because of this. This movie is perfectly paced, I’m never not entertained and the two and a half hours go by FAST. It’s so interesting watching these characters after all they’ve been through in previous films, Stark is still cocky and careless, Thor is still a fish out of water, and Cap is still the 40s soldier who follows order. I gotta say my favorite character in this film is Captain America, you can clearly see the moment where he realises that he’s the man out of time and when being the goody-boy scout doesn’t work in these modern times. I know people hate his suit in this movie but I actually absolutely love is. Sure the helmet is a little weird, but I just love how the rest of the costume looks, if they had the lower half of this suit and the helmet from Civil War that’s been colored-coded with the rest of the suit, it’d be perfect. Anyways, the other highlights of this film are of course Iron Man and the Hulk. I remember everyone was waiting to see how Iron Man played off the rest of the Avengers and it’s everything we wanted and more. As for Hulk, Mark Ruffalo IS Bruce Banner, he IS the Hulk, and up until we got Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok, this was my favorite Hulk performance. As for the other Avengers, they’re great too. Thor’s better in this movie than his first, Black Widow is a hell of a lot better than in Iron Man 2, and Hawkeye’s fine, I’ll get to him later. Now let’s talk about Loki. I never got the Loki hype… until today. For some reason I’ve really gained an appreciation for Loki in this movie after rewatching this film today, he’s just such a great villain! I could go on and on about this film so I’m going to say two more things make a list of why this movie is amazing: the soundtrack is awesome and THE BATTLE OF NEW YORK IS EVERYTHING.

Bad: Now there are a few things that have kinda wore on me after rewatching this film. First off there’s like this sort of clichéd S.H.I.E.L.D. dialogue that’s very repetitive throughout the film, it hasn’t been so apparent in other MCU films, so that’s why it bothered me in this movie. Now I said I’d get to Hawkeye, so the reason why he’s in the bad isn’t because he was a bad character, he was just very underused. It’s kinda lame having one of the main Avengers just be a brainwashed zombie until the last 30 minutes, I’m glad he was given more in Age of Ultron and Civil War. Lastly there are a few jokes in this movie that play really well when you watch it in a theater with a group of people, but when you’re sitting by yourself watching it on your laptop, it’s kinda awkward when somebody says something funny and then there’s like a pause afterwards, I dunno, I guess it doesn’t play as well when you’re watching it alone, which is a valid criticism when you’re talking about how a film holds up years after its release.

Overall, I believe The Avengers will be remember as a all-time classic blockbuster. This film changed the game in terms of the superhero genre and just the summer blockbuster itself. This movie is incredible and I will never forget where I was when I saw this movie, but it’s not one of my favorites of the MCU. If I were to rank the MCU in terms of Dunkey’s Mario tier list, I’d put it in the Mastapeece Zone, not one of the Big Boys. So for these reasons, I’m going to give The Avengers a 9/10. Let me know your thoughts on The Avengers are in the comments below and look forward to my review of Iron Man 3 next week!

The aircraft in front is Doris Mae.

From the Commemorative Air Force’s Capital Wing:

Doris Mae is a TBM-3E Avenger, built under license by General Motors in New Jersey during the final weeks of World War II. Delivered on August 2, 1945, she was transferred to the Marine Corps and used in postwar training roles. Later, she served in the Royal Canadian Navy as an anti-submarine warfare aircraft, and eventually became a forest firefighting aircraft in Canada before being acquired by the CAF in 2001.

In 2008, the CAF Capital Wing began a full restoration of the aircraft, meticulously returning her to a World War II configuration and honoring the TBM’s original mission. She now flies in the colors of VMTB-143, a Marine squadron that operated from the USS Gilbert Islands during the summer of 1945.

OH MY GOD THIS IS SOO COOL! Ultron looks great and so does everyone else, I'm so hyped for this movie!!!!!!
