This morning catch up with crew and did shoot at Avalon. This is the blend of two images. There was a nice color in the clouds for sometime so to catch them with my comp, I have to go vertical. I would like to blur that water more to make it smooth but as I was shooting with Samyang 14mm, I could not put filters on.

@Avalon, Avallon (English Avalon, Latin: Insula Avallonis, from the Irish abal, Welsh afal) - a mythical island in the French and English versions of Celtic legends (Celt. Emain Ablach), which have survived to our time. On Avalon, the legendary King Arthur was reburied; in other versions of the legend Avalon is the seat of the Fairy Morgana .On Avalon, the fairy Melusin was brought up.

As a classic element of the Arthurian cycle, Avalon first appears with Galfried of Monmouth in the “Acts of the Kings of Britain” .According to the Galfrid Chronicle, Arthur's sword was forged on this island, and then the king himself was taken there for healing after his last battle. The image of Avalon is further developed in the Life of Merlin of the same Galfrid, where it is almost likened in its description to the antique “islands of the blessed”. In this vein, the image was borrowed by a later literary tradition, e.g. Alfred Tennyson (The Royal Idylls).

According to modern interpretation, the myth of Avalon is an echo of pre-Christian legends about the "country of bliss" associated with the Avalon peninsula in Wales, sacred to the Celts [

Lovers of Celtic antiquity tried to find the gate to the mythical Avalon in different parts of ancient Britain and Ireland, in particular, on Glastonbury Hill where at the end of the XII century a certain grave was found with the inscription: “Here the glorified King Arthur with Guinevere lies second wife, on the island of Avalon. Our next stop after the Queen Mary was Catalina Island. This is the main harbor at Avalon. The structure in the background is the historic casino. There was never any gambling there. Casino is the Italian word for "gathering place". It's a movie theatre now.

May 23rd 2020 Avalon Headland experienced some awesome waves due to a low coming up from Antarctica. All along the coast over the last week there have been great waves but none as big as these witnessed on Saturday. Some huge wipe outs and some extremely talented surfers with passion and determination to experience mother nature in all her glory.

Caught up with some of the Focus crew this morning. Rain held off most of the morning and some colour eventually popped around the headland for us. Followed by an amazing breakfast at Relish Cafe at North Avalon.

Acting as a gateway to the world of Avalon, the Lake of Avalon was the home of the immortal Sidhe. It was only accessible to those with powerful magic, possibly even beyond the abilities of most human sorcerers. The lake was the only known gateway to the fallen outside of the Pool of Nemhain.

Stumbled upon this awe-inspiring lake that instantly brought me back to the Lake of Avalon from Merlin (above are excerpts from the Wiki for those who have no idea what I'm talking about). What is a mythical place you would love to explore?

A hot and humid start to the day for Sunrise at Avalon. A great morning to be out.

Taken on the FOCUS shoot with the Canon Collective. It was great to see the colour in the sky just before the sun came up. The colour even reflected in the wave crashing over the edge of the pool. An awesome morning.

Avalon Peninsula and Bonavista Bay, Newfoundland & Labrador.

The sun was up for only a few minutes when I took this shot. A precarious look-off, accessible by way of a rabbit path through a tangled patch of fir and pine - slippery with morning dew, I should add - ends abruptly a foot from the edge of another cliff just as high as those seen here. The brush was too thick for a tripod, so with my left arm wrapped securely around a sturdy tree, I held my camera through an opening in the branches and clicked.

This exemplifies photography in unspoiled Newfoundland. In any other part of North America, this stunning location would have a viewing platform, a huge parking lot for tour buses, a restaurant, and probably a souvenir shop. I'd also likely be standing next to other photographers taking the same photo.

In Newfoundland, you won't find any tourist-traps, just magnificent landscapes and colourful communities where real people live and work.

A place we dream of, away in the land beyond the Myst and Sea of reality. A place we all want to go, we all want to be. Sometimes it seems so close, sometimes so far …. But every step we take away in the land of dream, we feel it more closer.

Will I be able to reach Avalon in this life?
