Tributes to Prince Abhakara are often associated with Vishnu and elephants. This shrine is surrounded by hundreds of elephant figures ranging from near life-size to just an inch long. These figures were left by supplicants seeking favors of the deity.
Opening Day at Beckman Mill. Lots of prom photo taking was going on later in the afternoon. The wind was a bit fierce, but the sun was warm.

The Museum at FIT presented its 16th academic symposium Proust’s Muse on Thursday, October 20. The day-long symposium was organized in conjunction with the exhibition Proust's Muse, The Countess Greffulhe.

My grandpa peacefully passed away November 13, 2007 at the age of 93 - he had a passion for science, philosophy, literature, humanity and the environment. At age 20 he was an electrochemical engineer / executive from Dow Chemicals. He grew up on a prune ranch in Santa Clara in the heart of what is now Silicon Valley. He had a heart that was larger than life, and all the warm memories of him will always hold our family together.

Black Widow was built at Sudomekh shipyard in Leningrad and commissioned in 1967. She was based at Riga and served with the Soviet Baltic Fleet before being used as a training vessel for crews from overseas who would be operating "Foxtrot's" in their own navies. She was decommissioned in 1994 and sold.After passing into private hands, and under the name "U-475 Black Widow" she was moored at Long's Wharf near the Thames Barrier in England where she was open to the public as a museum ship. in 1998 she was moved to Folkestone, where she was again opened to the public. In 2003 she was moved to her present location.

At Edington Junction the Bridgwater line parted company with that to Highbridge and Burnham. Looking towards Highbridge/Bridgwater, I have my back to Station Road but no trace of the station remains. While the line to Highbridge carried more or less straight on, the Bridgwater branch turned left just beyond here in a graceful 90 degree arc crossing the South Drain before heading towards Cossington and Bawdrip.
At this site just to the southeast of Baker City, Bake County, Oregon, cheatgrass is restricted to the roadside and similarly disturbed settings. The large recent fire is notable because it occurred at an upland site where cheatgrass is not common. Peraphyllum ramosissimum is both well browsed in this area and appears not to have survived the recent fire.
