The aster is a wildflower that comes in red, orange, white, and purple. The plant also has a rich history in ancient Greece. According to Greek mythology, the goddess Astraea wept because there weren't enough stars in the sky. Her tears fell to the earth and turned into the star-shaped flowers we now call asters. In Greek, aster literally means star.

Alpen-Asters or Alpine asters are flowers I hardly ever see on my trips to the Alps, and this time I saw them twice! Once near the Rheinquelle (see earlier on in my album 'Disentis' and once here, on the descent towards Andermatt.
I love these relatively large 'purple daisies'.
"Delicate petals, vibrant hues – the aster whispers secrets of beauty in every bloom"
Amidst the green, it stands alone,
A testament to beauty sown,
Aster, oh aster, in garden's embrace,
You bring a touch of heaven's grace.
