The Utah Army National Guard hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at Camp Williams for the new Ammunition Supply Point (ASP) Thursday, August 18. At the ceremony, Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Brian Tarbet officially open the ASP and recognize the significance of this addition to Camp Williams.
The new ASP will reduce the cost of training while at the same time increasing the availability of ammunition and thereby the overall readiness of the National Guard. The ASP spans roughly 142 acres in the range area on the west side of Redwood Road. It includes an Administration Building, Surveillance, Inspection, Repair and Equipment (SIRE) Building, Loading Dock, Inert Building, Ammunition Breakdown Building, and several Earth covered Magazines (ECM).
The ECM’s store ammunition used for training by Soldiers who come from all over the United States to train at Camp Williams, enhancing its reputation as the premier training site in the region.
The ASP was a combined effort between Target Construction and Okland Construction, and cost about $11 million to complete.
