This is where he wants me. Riiiight here. Look. See? That's the perfect spot: just over his head, between his ears, is a lovely curled up leaf. It's nice and dry, extra resonant probably. He spends a lot of the day out back, playing in the leafs, getting them to make spooky little thar-be-woodland-creature-noises and hunting for sleepy bugs.
His favorite thing in the world is having mom or dad come out and sit with him in a leafpile.
Another shot of Ashness Bridge that I took yesterday, this ones from a little further back this time with ND filters to smooth out the water a little.

Foresters survey ash trees in Dundalk for the invasive emerald ash borer.
Driving up and down every street in a studied area, they first determine the location of each tree and document their progress on a map. They then use a specially calibrated tape to measure the diameter at breast height, about 1.37 meters. Next, they measure the height with a clinometer by counting off paces from the trunk, and then sighting to the base and the highest point of the canopy. Lastly, they’ll assess the overall condition of the tree.
Hundreds came to St. John Cantius parish to begin the penitential season of Lent. This is a privileged season of grace for the entire Church. It begins the annual solemn preparation for the Easter Mystery which is the culmination of the Church Year.
The Latin name for Lent, Quadragesima, means forty and refers to the forty days Christ spent in the desert which is the origin of the Season.
As happens on every Ash Wednesday, the people receive ashes on their foreheads in the shape of a cross while the priest says, "Remember that thou art dust and unto dust thou shall return." Ashes are a biblical symbol of repentance, sorrow, and humility. It is a fitting beginning to this holy season dedicated to the conversion of our hearts and the need to do acts of penance for ourselves and for the world.

Ashness Bridge is a traditional stone-built bridge on the single-track road from the Borrowdale road to Watendlath, in the English Lake District. It is famous for being a fine viewpoint across Borrowdale towards Skiddaw. It or its predecessor may have been a packhorse bridge conveying packhorse traffic from Watendlath to Keswick

'Ash to Ash' is an environmental art installation by the artists Ackroyd and Harvey, which highlights the devastating Ash 'die-off' across the country due to a fungus - Hymenoscyphus fraxineus.
One tree is stripped of bark, pale and smooth. The other tree is burnt dark ash. They are impaled with thousands of 'arrows' cleaved from Ash.
