Walk at Wendover Woods.
Lots of dying ash trees now. There was a feature on the radio this morning. Delays to scheduled maintenance due to covid added to the extreme hot weather have led to disease escalating much faster than originally estimated.

This was a really fun shoot. On Maddy's suggestion we tried to work a bit of a story line into the gallery, which led to all sorts of interesting shots. Looking at the final gallery I wish we had built out the story a little more, but for a first attempt at the concept I'm really happy with it.
(Note: the last 5 photos of the set are just good shots that didn't really fit into the story progression).
This was also the first set of images I've edited on my new monitor. For the last year or so I've been editing on very low quality displays, which is a bit like trying to paint while wearing sunglasses. Though, now that I'm editing on an accurate display with great contrast, I need to preview my photos on crappy displays to make sure the photos still look good to the average viewer XD

Valley Catholic students, faculty and staff came together for Ash Wednesday Mass in the Valiants Gym on Feb. 14, 2018. Ash Wednesday opens Lent, a season of fasting and prayer.
Hundreds came to St. John Cantius parish to begin the penitential season of Lent. This is a privileged season of grace for the entire Church. It begins the annual solemn preparation for the Easter Mystery which is the culmination of the Church Year.
The Latin name for Lent, Quadragesima, means forty and refers to the forty days Christ spent in the desert which is the origin of the Season.
As happens on every Ash Wednesday, the people receive ashes on their foreheads in the shape of a cross while the priest says, "Remember that thou art dust and unto dust thou shall return." Ashes are a biblical symbol of repentance, sorrow, and humility. It is a fitting beginning to this holy season dedicated to the conversion of our hearts and the need to do acts of penance for ourselves and for the world.

The group of people with the dog lend perspective. Ash Cave is immense. We visited Hocking Hills to celebrate our wedding anniversary. On the trail to Ash Cave, we met a man carrying professional camera equipment. Coming along behind were a couple dressed in wedding finery, both struggling to keep clean while walking the trail.

It's Ash from Pokemon! I ambushed this guy while he was browsing for goodies, but he was happy to oblige me a picture.
