Well, I'm briefly back from a "grand" trip up to Lake Superior and the North Shore area. (No angry bear issues this trip!)
I had the pleasure of having breakfast with Monica (lablover47) in Two Harbors on Monday morning, then proceeded up Route #61. More photos to follow soon...
I'm heading back to northwest Wisconsin yet this week to visit friends. I will try to catch up next week!
I went on a non-trail trail, forged by volunteers planting native plants in the backwoods area, and happened on this nice set of conks, probably Ganoderma brownii, growing on a dying big leaf maple. Artists have been known to draw on this white material; you can find some of this art online. Ravenna Park, Seattle, Washington
Was lucky to catch a semi-candid shot of the artist that is painting the new mural on the Art Museum in San Luis Obispo, Ca.
Colorful and lively, eager to see how it turns out!

Artist Drive, Death Valley, California
Looking across an arroyo to the colorful rocks on the other side that form Artist's Palette. The original minerals come from volcanic ash that fell or were washed into a saline lake several tens of millions of year ago. After being buried, these rocks were eventually pushed up as part of the Black Mountains during the formation of Death Valley and exposed by erosion.
Taking a picture from a stranger is different from other types of photography forms. It's relatively hard to clone those moments again. And that's why this project and all the precious moments become worthy to me.
A must see by taking the small road right at Artists Drive. The colors of different rocks more or less oxidized, are multiple. Should visit the site early in the morning or the golden hour, unfortunately we have not been able to.
